A tipster tell us that as of this morning, "All of the Bush Street signs have been changed to Obama again. ALL of them." (Well played, San Francisco.) NBC Bay Area reports that the stunt, which also happened in November during the election, went down just before sunrise on Inauguration Day.
At least four blocks of signs were changed from Market to the Presidio.
NBC Bay Area goes on to day that there will be "a rally that is expected to be held at Bush Street and Presidio later today -- where Bush Street officially stops with a little 'end' sign on the street corner." How very not exciting.

Remind me again why it's bad idea to make this permanent?
Because I forgot.
Because the street wasn't named after G-Dub?
I always thought it was named after Kate Bush
Nice move. Much better than a pantsless flashmob.
AGREED.
Hm. Not all of 'em are changed. Just walked by Bush on Franklin and Van Ness and they're still, well, Bush.
The ones at the far western end weren't changed either. Would be kinda funny if they had, according to the nbc link above there's a rally scheduled for later today at the Bush/Presidio intersection--because it's the "end" Bush sign. Imagine showing up and seeing end Obama, ha! Would make for a great start to their rally!
That's exactly what 2900 bush looks like, if anyone is concerned.
The block ENDS as 2999 Bush, or 2999 Obama today.
No it's not. We've been over this before. That is not the Any of the corners of Bush and Lyon.
That's because some folks thought there were really and stole them, ruining it for the rest of us. I assure at 1am we had 100% coverage.
DPW has cleaned up the signs from Van Ness to Market. There might be a few strays past Gough out to Presideo, but no guarantees as we used non-permanent adhesive foam tape so it comes off pretty easily. We didn't want to make it hard work to clean up.
Well, for that I applaud you. A lot of people would have done this and just been complete dicks about it ignoring that people would have to change things back.
At the same time while, yeah, it was a cute stunt I can see people who are actually looking for Bush St. today being a bit pissed off over it.
So points for cleverness and making it fairly easy to go back to normal, but it still does impact the utility of the signs and that's kind of a bad idea.
Well, we did alter them from Market to Presido, but some of our operatives did a drive-by and caught a few civilians taking them down as souvenirs and spoiling it for everyone. DPW did their clean up at around 9am.
Also we only hit the white signs, the mid-street green ones were too high up.
Yeah, it's cute, but it's also kind of a dick thing to do. Let's keep the street signs so they're actually describing the street. Assuming they stole the signs how much is this even going to cost? Not just the signs, but the man-hours that DPW is likely going to over-spend in changing them back.
Plus, as said upthread, it's not even named after him.
want some cheese with that whine?
it's not even named after him
That seems entirely beside the point.
we really shook up those squares this time!
@Belgand Christ, you're a whiner.
You know how this works. Those who can't or won't do, bitch about it on the internet.
@rickabruzzo Those who can't or won't do, bitch about it on the internet.
I posted this to facebook and for some reason, the thumbnail was a pic of a bart ticket, not the picture of the Obama street sign.
What gives?
look for the little 'forward' arrow underneath the thumbnail preview. You can 'scroll' through the other pics till you find the one that's relevant. FB likely grabbed the screen shot at the top of the masthead.
@rickabruzzo, the real dick move was not posting them, it was stealing them before they'd had their maximum impact! And I say that as a Bush cross-street-er. Nice.
The "End Bush" signs are cute but my favorite is the "Rue Bush" sign on Cafe de la Presse across from the Chinatown gate.
Sweet Vandelism!!! Makes me proud
great job ... this will cost the city $$$$$ to have those over paid city workers from DPT to remove them. No wonder this city is a mess. San Franciscan's are not the sharpest sticks in the pile....
