Although the effect they have will--at best--be microscopic, protesters are out in full force at Montgomery and Sansome Pine streets right now, just outside the Israeli consulate. The rally is reportedly about the violence going on in the Gaza Strip. As well as the art of protesting itself. As of 6 p.m. scores of white people with liberal arts degrees are making themselves heard. Loudly. But tonight's protest is a bit different in that there are angry voices from people on both sides (Team Israel and Team Palestine!) making a fuss. Which side are you on? Or, rather, could you not care less?
UPDATE I: As of 6:15 p.m., protesters are moving up Market Street.
UPDATE II: On its way to Civic Center, the protest is stopping Muni buses on Market Street. If you must drive on Market Street this evening, don't. Take the underground instead.

Pssst -- Montgomery and Sansome do not intersect. Montgomery & Pine? I work in the BofA building and they're very loud outside my office.
It really all went to shit after Solomon died and they split the kingdom it in two. But what's a little historical fact between religious zealots?
Hehe. "Scores of white people with liberal arts degrees."
It's amazing how versatile that sentence is. It describes most protests, some neighborhoods, a lot of companies, and a significant number of SF events.
Is this why all those fucking helicopters are flying over my house again?
"As of 6 p.m. scores of white people with liberal arts degrees are making themselves heard."
I understand the point that is attempted here. I often wonder who San Franciscans are really protesting for since the national media really doesn't give a damn that there's a another protest there. Then again, I was down there last night and there were certainly a mix of people, many who certainly appeared to be Arab. Many of the "white people with liberal arts degrees" also held up signs stating that they are Jews against the Israeli aggression.
Brock- what are YOU doing to change the world? Writing in a blog with a teensy (AT BEST) readership? What effect do you think you are creating? Ironic that it was worthy enough to make a post about it.
I welcome you back to apoliticism with a fresh, hot latke wrapped in a nicely pressed kafiyeh.
Just uploaded photos I took with my DSLR here.
Anyway, watched a Jewish guy yelling and calling the marchers liars and this big looking dude walked up and pushed him with his "THE REAL TERRORISTS: US-ISRAEL" sign. Ridiculous.
This protest does not seem to be even close to size of the Prop. 8 protests back in November.
They've been fighting the same war for 3400 years. I say, let them kill each other. I'm sick of our political system being usurped to benefit others.
And what you says matters! Really!
Tell it to AIPAC.
That's what the military industrial complex want you to think.
Never ending war = never ending profits.

Should have marched to the Chineese embassy and demanded a free tibet. That would hold up more traffic cuz idle cars on the California coast are the foundations justice, peace and a brighter future. oh wait...maybe not
I agree with magdelyn. They've been fighting long before I was born, they'll be fighting long after I'm dead. Neither side can claim the moral high ground.
These protesters are such losers and do nothing for the Palestine cause ... they are just domestic terrorist who make the police a lot of extra overtime money ... what idiots.
