It Snowed in San Francisco!

It looks like it snowed right here in San Francisco yesterday and last night. Can you believe it? According to reports the snow was white, fluffy, and cold to the touch.

Also, the National Weather Service has issued a snow advisory for any and all Bay Area elevations above 2,000 feet. Bits of snow have hit the ground all the way from Sonoma to the Santa Cruz Mountains.

we got a hailstorm in the mish. like the sky was a giant crushed ice dispenser...

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

the snow storm on Mt. Diablo was pretty awesome yesterday.

awww. broadway and fillmore. that's the corner of my elementary school.

honestly this is a huge pet peeve of mine.
THIS IS HAIL!
It does not snow when the temp is 50 degrees. Hail can accumulate just like snow - and can look like snow if you have never actually seen what snow looks like.
It has been hailing a lot last few days but HAIL IS NOT SNOW.
Notice how it collects around storm drains and edges of things? Thats because water carries the hail

i hereby declare it to be snow. california snow, that is.

Looks like someone threw a sno-cone on the street.

It ain't real snow until everyone needs a shovel.

I'm from Illinois and that is definitely not snow.

Craeg- Stop raining on our parade! It's snow dammit!

Hey Wiyum, me too! CSH '92, woohoo!

woohoo! I too am a convent grad! (high school though)

hail indeed, but 50° was not.
It was 38° when the hail was rocking sunday nite.
42° when it hailed last nite again + Iwas @TIsland.

I have a weather station, and it hasnt gone below 44 in russian hill yet this year.

Hail is hard and pellet-like and kills small birds and looks like God's Wrath on the homeless.

Snow is flakey and soft-ish and reminds everyone of Bing Crosby and those cute animals that Sarah Palin kills.

How could these two things be confused?

That's left-over hail, not snow, sorry.....

(I spent my teenage years shoveling the stuff, so, I know snow when I see it.)

Cold to the touch, maybe, but white and fluffy? Not particularly.

it DID once snow in the Bay Area...I remember it, it was when I was 4 years old and it was not hail, it was in fact snow...but it melted within an hour of landing...

Wow, some people are from states where it really snows and us flaky Californians think that hail is snow. Here's my advice: go back. You can see the real snow up close and personal and leave our job market.

I'm from a state that used to get snow and that certainly looks like snow to me. Regardless of what it is it looks like absolute horror to me.

I moved here to get away from snow and homophobic bigots. Fail on both counts so far this year.

Whatever this was, it is now no longer snow or hail. It is the lovely substance known as "slush."

I'm from Chicago and peeps, that is not snow.
