Some kind of geocaching? or treasure hunt?

If you decipher the meaning of the characters below, you will be visited by The Dharma Initiative.

It looks like Google is hiring again.

Brock, please be careful! What if this is some sort of curse like "The Ring" and if you post this pic you die or something?!? Please don't die, Brock! Don't mess with the cursed sign!

As soon as i typed in the code I started lactating! And speaking Welsh.

Dammit Greg, I was going to post a "Seven Days..." line.

Ha ha ha, that's the code for de-activating restrictions on DVDs. The MPAA sued a bunch of sites for posting the code, but then so many other sites started posting it that it became impossible to issue enough C&Ds. I wonder if we'll get a letter about this photo.

Oh no wait I'm wrong -- that was 09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0. I don't know what this is -- a bunch of random hex codes?

SFIST is the pawn of the Zodiac.

mattymatt - that's what I thought it was too. I'm a little flummoxed as to what it could be....

Gonna attempt to convert it into something else and see what happens.

ok converting it was pointless.

but if anyone cares

here's the binary and decimal values of the string.

I'm bored with this now.

You're just helping the terrorists win.

Terrorists? Pfft.

It's either viral marketing or 4chan/anonymous.

That's the Hillsdale exit off 101 northbound. I'll have to check it out tomorrow and see if it's still there......

I dialed it and Jenny did not pick up the phone. :(

Freaky, I saw one of these signs this morning in the Haight, here is a picture I took: http://xs232.xs.to/xs232/08443/cttp781.jpg

Probably some Burning Man art project...

It doesn't appear to give anything useful when interpreted as ASCII, Unicode, or an IPv6 address.

That's my credit card number!

It's PGP decryption code.

Mattymatt - I think you're right. Seems like an AACS encryption key. Unfortunately I don't have any new dvd's to test this out on.

@travin: it's too short to be a public key itself (and public keys aren't limited to the characters 0-F anyway) and too long to be the fingerprint of one.

AACS is a strong possibility. I guess they publicizing it this way to allow more people to use it before the key gets revoked?

Publicizing it this way doesn't make any sense though.

If it really is AACS, then it should be up on slashdot, digg, wired, ars technica, etc. Not on freeway offramps.

This online discussion seems to indicate that this is PBwiki looking to hire people.

Doh. Shame they're not hiring for anything I know how to do. :p

Next week's lotto numbers?
