Princess Taiping docks in San Francisco

princessboatinsf.jpg

The Princess Taiping -- a motor-less, "handcrafted Chinese Junk and replica of a Ming Dynasty war ship" -- was supposed to head to Vancouver, but ended up here in SF after a tropical storm forced it southward. SF Weekly's Janine Kahn, who snapped the shot above, says the crew offered her hot tea and apples from Taiwan. Delicious and good for digestion!

Read more about the ship's sudden arrival, here.

This is awesome and going down to see it might be what I do tonight, but couldn't either of the photographers take a step back and take a picture of the whole thing?

There are photos of the whole thing with its sails open on the Princess Taiping's website.
