When Doilies Go Bad

Over at Mission Mission, we came across this most interesting art exhibit opening on Saturday night. It's called When Doilies Go Bad. And, boy, do they.

Artists Lisa Mendelson and Laura Mappin have crocheted jarring doily cotton and silk pieces that will have your grandmother reaching for her heart medicine. Everything from skulls, to four-letter words, to poop are painstakingly formed into gorgeous (not to mentioned engorged, see left) doilies.

The filthy lace art exhibit opens tomorrow in the Mission district. (Go there, if you dare!) Read more about it here.

What: When Doilies Go Bad
Where: Soap Gallery, 806 South Van Ness
When: 6 p.m., Saturday, 9/8

Oh come on, it's a heart, isn't it?? A bell pull? NO, no, let me guss again!

I showed my 87yo grandmother the pic of the "fuck" doily in the sfweekly. she blushed but she offered a good belly laugh.

It's the ejaculate that makes it art.
