Farewell, 12 Galaxies

It is done. 12 Galaxies, the Mission club named after mentally unfit local color Frank Chu and that sign he carries, came to end this past weekend. Local indie rock outfits StitchCraft and Big Light were the last bands to stomp the floorboards there. And even Mr. Chu himself beamed in for the final show. Read more about it here. I only went there once myself since I don't go to live shows very often, but I really liked it , and I hate it when these kinds of things happen. Suburbia By the Sea is no fun.

true.

but they could've done more with the space they had to keep it thriving. and turnover is, for better or for worse, all a part of living a city.

still, rip,12 galaxies.

Big Light totally rocked the place. They're worth checking out.

First The Stone and now this.

We are getting reports the Coucilman was *not* taken off life support. They even reported that he died on the wires.

Not sure the truth...

Uhhh. I just posted that on the wrong thread. Brilliant.

Wow, I thought the above comment was making some weird analogy! Would've been kind of fitting, in a way.

@brock: oh I hear ya, and it's kinda like what happened out here with the Canvas Gallery - sorry to see it go, but at the same time it could have been better utilized so it could afford to keep on truckin'.

Just so long as they don't put some boring-ass thing in its place, life goes on!

This town went to hell after they closed the Mabuhay Gardens. (sniff)

@mpantone: I hear that.

....and the Trocadero, Covered Wagon, Studio Z, Crystal Pistol, The Paradise Lounge and ... and ... and ...

ooooooo...can't believe I forgot Casa Loma and 508.

*sigh*

i've got a great idea! let's fill the space with an uberchic, low-lit tapas bar/restaurant/club with a rooftop tiki lounge, put a bouncer out front in a chair and charge 8 dollars for a cocktail.

maybe that'll do something about the number of shootings in the 'hood.

@travin-

Damn!...those were the days....
