One Rincon Hill's Entrance Falls Flat

One Rincon Hill - the tallest apartment building west of the Mississippi, or however its tag line goes - has been open and ready for business for some time now. It should come as no surprise to regular readers of SFist that we are very envious of its inhabitants, people who are ten times better than you.

That said, we're a bit disappointed today. And so is he. Why? Because at the top of the driveway leading to the main entrance of One Rincon Hill sits this pathetic patch of circular turf. This is its welcoming? A few blades of grass? We were hoping for some sort of gargantuan fountain or tacky steel and glass sculpture. Alas.

Nevertheless, we still love you 1RH. It's your little flaws that make you so very perfect. Sigh.

It looks like one of those annoying Berkeley traffic calming roundabouts, without the kid friendly murals or carefully, lovingly even, chosen native plants.

The entrance is not done. Until Caltrains finishes work on the ramp (to the left) in Sept.(?), the landscaping and features of the entrance will not be fully completed.

They will probably put some big flagpole or ugly block of cement and call it art, like the rest of the "landmarks" in SF

I suggest that a local artist take up this cause and create a sculpture that pays homage to the area's previous residents: bums. I can imagine a broze sculpture that homeless guy that hangs out by our office with a blanket wrapped around his head one arm permantly outstretched to ask for money, the other hand holding up his pants. How fitting!

That would soon fill up with dog poop if I lived there.

Oh, are you referring to the giant sharper-image ionizer that is glued onto the freeway?

Too bad the architect couldn't raise the "taste level" to that of an ironic pez dispenser.

damn that is pretty shitty for One Rincon Hill. You'd think they'd have a fountain of some sort at least.

Did you just rick-roll me, skiptracr? Nice blast :-)

I suggest they transplant one of those Berkeley oak trees and then One Rincon Hill can be Dumpster Muffin's new address!

since it's in front of a giant penis, there should be a theme appropriate statue in front of it.

gonga gonga.

mpantone: Outstanding!

I'm glad that even in this thread about an apartment complex for the top half of the 1%, we were able to rain a little hate down on poor people. Good Show SFist commenters!

batcave entrance?

I keep wondering how Dunder Mifflin can afford One Rincon Hill... oh *now* I get it...
