Homeless Man Beaten to Death at Turk & Taylor

The City's 57th (58th?) homicide happened yesterday morning in the infamous Tenderloin hood. Over on Turk and Taylor, Richard Weiland, 53, was found beaten to death. According to reports, Weiland was robbed and repeatedly punched at around 2 a.m. Of course, no arrests have been made. Also, quality-of-life zealots, please use discretion when commenting on this, OK? Thanks.

That's really sad.
It reminds me of the movie Clockwork Orange
where they beat up the homeless guy in the beginning. But karma gets those guys in the end. Maybe that will happen in this situation.

I live two blocks from here...scary shit.

Life is a more than living.
It's unfortunate that people see the need to hurt those who are less than them selves.

I'm talking about taking someone's life. Why would someone beat a person, with no home, to death, then go through their pockets???

I work in the Tenderloin, and I see the violence everyday. Why did Mayor Newsom cut funding for police foot patrols? With more police "visable" on the streets, rather in their car on their cell phones, crime will be CUT!!!!!!

There have been two arrest made, according to police:

San Francisco police today announced the arrest of two men in the slaying of a 53-year-old man in the city's Tenderloin neighborhood Wednesday.

Robert Hannah, 57, and Michael Cooper, 44, were arrested for allegedly killing Richard Weiland, a homeless man who was beaten to death early Wednesday morning.

Weiland was repeatedly punched at Turk and Taylor streets at about 2 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene.

At least one of the suspects rummaged through Weiland's pockets before fleeing, police reported.

Hannah was arrested on a charge of homicide, and Cooper was arrested on charges of homicide and robbery.

The two were arrested near where the beating occurred after witness accounts led to the identification of Hannah and Cooper.
