Fast Cars and Fresh Produce

Wait, another farmer's market? Seriously? Doesn't this city have, like, twenty already? Or at least more than two. Well, okay, we're willing to give it a shot -- even though it takes place on Diviz, a corridor known mostly for perilous gas stations and dead plants in the median. Anything to spuce that place up can't be a bad thing.

The Divisadero Farmer's Market will be happening every Sunday starting July 13 (this weekend) from 10am to 2pm, at Diviz and Grove. That's right next to a BBQ joint, an automotive shop, a parking lot, and Alouis Auto Radiator, Inc. Yum! It's just like being down on the farm.

Isn't that the parking lot of the Medical Marijuana place?

Hey, do you want some bullet holes with that lettuce?

Come on, I live there you have to go a few blocks before it starts to get dicey.

Bitchin'! I just moved there. Now I can buy tomatoes to the sound of cat-calls being made at anything with boobs!

People! I think we have a solid nominee for next year's SFBG "Best Farmer's Market At Which To Get Shot"...

i think there's a popeye's chicken nearby, too. superior nuggets to kfc.

Yup, there is a Popeye's at Hayes. I generally like my fried chicken, but this place is super nasty, even relative to other Popeye's. Stinks up the entire neighborhood.

They should move the market over into the paved area just up the way in the panhandle. I wonder if they tried that and park/rec gave 'em a hassle.

oh, come on. that area's not that bad. it's just kind of empty and janky.

This farmer's market was originally planned to be on the panhandle at Ashbury but a lot of people complained about the potential parking and traffic problems that might ensue.

icbalaam, can't at all say I'm surprised.

And there's always alternatives, like perhaps in the DMV parking lot. Ain't nobody using it on Sunday.

But that teeny little, tiny parking lot on diviz? I dunno man, we'll see how it works out.

I just hope this one is better and not outrageously expensive like the some of the other smaller farmer's markets-- like the one in Noe Valley.

"Come on, I live there you have to go a few blocks before it starts to get dicey."

I live there too and last summer there were a nice scattering of daylight shootings on Divis. One was at Divis and Grove.

I love that bbq joint that this is by. To bad it's on the same day that civic center farmers market is. The farmers markets should work with each other so that theres farmers market up somewhere 7 days a week!

Thankfully the gun activity around there seems to have died (ahem) down compared to last year, but it's still a thug magnet. I guess Sunday afternoon is one of the better times to take parking away from Lily's BBQ and the pot club, but the lot is TINY - where are the farm trucks going to park, in the lot? Sounds like a potential clusterfuck, but I appreciate the efforts of NOPNA and ASNA to improve their property values. OK, that was snarky.

I'll be there!

Civic Center's FM is also on Wednesdays, though. And it's a pretty sizable one, too.

I'll be looking shifty, but I'll be there, too.
