Mayor Newsom Launches Formal Bid for 2010 Governor's Race

Newsom_State_of_City_Address.jpg
It seems Gavin took his biggest step yet away from San Francisco and toward Sacramento today. According to the Sacto Bee, San Francisco Mayor Newsom "launched an exploratory committee Tuesday to consider a 2010 run for governor." This makes San Francisco 40-year-old mayor the first Democrat to formally take aim at Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's job. Exciting stuff, folks! In other news, Attorney General Jerry Brown also plans on jumping into the race to replace Schwarzenegger. Isn't that adorable? Read more about it here.

Jesus, Gav, it's not a fucking entitlement program! What the hell would you do with the governor's mansion, anyway? You got a plan for the good folks in Eureka? When was the last time you were in the Mojave?

Please, just get your ass off the public dole, you bastard.

Just when you think anyone would be better than Arnold, Newsom and Brown enter the race.

No matter who wins, California has lost.

I don't know what's worse: that that sleazy piece of shit thinks he deserves to be governor or that enough people might agree with him to make it so.

Definitely the second one actually.

And just think: if not for gay marriage, he'd be just another also-ran one termer. I can't wait to see Mayor McDouchenozzle crash and burn in the primaries. If it means having to vote for Brown, so be it.

Dennis Herrera for Mayor of San Francisco!!

all you fools who voted for this chump last fall! we told you this was going to happen. all the desperate problems facing this city and gavin is going to be paying even less attention to them this term than he did in the last one. this city will reap what it has sown.

What's the emoticon for /moving to Canada now?

Likelihood of me voting for him=zero

Will his hair win him this office too?

Ahhh, it's all fun to be hating on the slick one right now, but just wait until we see who the Republicans offer up as their candidate. I expect most of you to change your tune.

Please go, Noisome. Then maybe we'll get an actual mayor here.

WTF? He can't even solve city problems, so what the hell is he going to do as governor? How far can you get in politics with slick hair anyways?

::Gasp!:: ::Shock!::

So once he's governor, will he actually get something done? Doubtful...wait, that means he's a shoo-in!

what a JOKE! Empty FUCKING suit doesn't have a chance

Good luck, greasy one. Your shtick ain't gonna play in most of this state. Too "liberal" for most of CA, yet those of us in your backyard know that you are a DINO of the highest order.

I shall enjoy watching your meltdown.

I'm surprised to see such hate here on the comment board. Did anyone see the man's stylish hair? Those dreamy eyes? C'mon people, the man's got credentials! My guess is that Chris Daly runs for Assembly just so he can be a thorn in The Gav's side in perpetuity.

I really have nothing to add that hasn't already been said here. But I'm in dental pain, and these comments made me laugh, so thank you.

What's even more embarassing is SF "progressives" sputtering with gleeful hope that another philandering centrist mayor (from LA no less!) can do a job they couldn't. The mayoral race last year was a joke.

Impotent, finger-wagging rage is soooo progressive.

Hey, Care Not Cash actually did some good.

Wait, that was before he became mayor?

So... what's he done since then?

Ron, what makes you think every poster here is a progressive? We *do* allow people to speak their minds in this town.

oh geez.....He may not be able to find the right shoes for Seibel's pigeon toes in Sacto.

Westly? Newsom? Brown?

As long as we keep it in Nor*Cal, I'm good.

Of course we allow people to speak their minds in this town, KatyG. As long as by "their minds" we mind dogmatic, do-nothing political correctness.

As for your "dole" comment, I don't think Gav's mayor because he lusted after the salary.

You rage against the machine, RonAlbertson!

Ron, where's the gun to your head? Sign up with blogger and say whatever you want, man. You're doing it right now, matter o'fact. Jesus, what do conservatives want?
