"Your Locals" took a break last week because the "Top Chef" reunion was a total let-down, aside from Jen and Zoi coyly refusing to discuss the status of their relationship, which was essentially the same as shouting at the top of their lungs that they had broken up. There was not near enough Lisa bashing to please us, and Stephanie--the winner of the season--also won the audience choice prize. Bo-ring!
But we're happy to report that two more locals have joined the Bravo family of reality TV fare in this season of "Shear Genius." Let's meet them, shall we?
First up was Paulo, 37, from San Jose. He admits to once having a big crush on host Jacyln Smith, despite (because of?) being a gay man.
The first challenge was to cut hair while blindfolded. The clients were wearing safety glasses, but every other aspect of their heads was fair game for gushing wounds. Luckily the only things left bloody were a few of the stylists' fingers. Paulo ended up near the top, while the other local Nekisa was second from the bottom. Nekisa didn't really get an introduction, but she's 29, and from Concord. The very bottom went to Oshun, who's response was, seriously, "The best always finish last."
The elimination challenge was the old "famous hairstyle" bit, where the clients each had photos of celebrity hairstyles they wanted. Ah, but there was a wacky twist! All the pictures were of cartoon characters. Paulo chose Judy Jetson, and Nekisa got Lucy from the Peanuts.
Hair show! Aside from Jacyln Smith, the judges included Kim Vo, Kelly Atterton of Allure magazine, and Neeko. Whoever the hell they all are. Nekisa' Lucy interpretation included some unfortunate tiger stripe effects that she attempted to hide by pining the model's hair back. Paulo's Judy Jetson cut was sort of an angular bob, with coloring that was pale blonde with golden highlights. Neither was as stultifying awful as the Marge Simpson 'do, which was not an interpretation at all, but an actual blue Marge Simpson beehive.
Paulo made the cut, but Nekisa had to stay behind and defend her style. Neeko liked it, and really thought it looked like a grown-up version of Lucy. Oshun also had a Lucy do, and it was horrible. HORRIBLE.
Shockingly, the blue beehive was one of the top three. WTF? Nekisa's was also among the top three, but the winner went to one of the Wilma Flintsones. As for the loser? That would be Oshun, but according to his logic, he's actually the winner of "Shear Genius." Yay! Season's over!

I think Jen walked by me at Pride yesterday
umm... if you're living in SF, surrounded by fine chefs and restaurants, why would you sit at home and watch chefs on TV?
um, because tv is awesome and provides unconditional love, always. also, not everyone in sf can afford said restaurants.
And also because you rarely get to see chefs yelling at each other and throwing things when you're at an actual restaurant. But if you can direct me to one where I can see that on full display, I'm all over it.
at the salt house, a place i love, you can see the chefs in action. but sadly, none of them have come to fisticuffs. yet.
I would love to see zoi pass by me.. so far I've only seen Ryan (the dumb one) on my hood. Oh and I see Tory from Mythbuster once a week. He must live in my neighborhood.
