Skatebook Release Party, New SF Skate Park Grand Opening

Celebrate the release of the second issue of Skatebook tonight at FTC Skate Shop in Upper Haight. Skatebook is a quarterly skateboarding zine from former pro skater Salman Agah and photographer Mike Ballard. Copies of the second issue will be free to guests. The first 59 guests will also receive limited-edition 59Fifty New Era hats signed by James Kelch, a former skater for San Francisco-based Real Skateboards, who now reps Turf Skateboards. Skate park grand opening

The new Potrero del Sol/La Raza Skatepark in the Mission District officially opens this weekend. The park's terrain was designed with all skate genres in mind.

As an added bonus, local skate shop Mission Skateboards is hosting a free barbecue and prize giveaway at the park's opening. Expect to witness some serious shredding. Kids: Don't forget your helmets. Free. Potrero del Sol/La Raza Skatepark, 25th and Utah streets, San Francisco. Park is accessible by the No. 33 Muni route (get off on 25th Street). By car, take either the Potrero Avenue or Cesar Chavez Street westbound Highway 101 exits.
