Good Idea, Bad Idea

goodbadidea.jpgSometimes you read news items, and it reminds you of the old cartoon feature, "Good Idea, Bad Idea." Remember those? Well, our friends in Sacramento have their own version of what qualifies as a bad idea: a 26-year-old man, his girlfriend, and his brother decided (read: drunkenly agreed) to walk around in the underground tunnels in Sacramento. When surfacing from their little excursion, the male lifted up a storm drain and was promptly hit by a car.

The man was taken to the UC Davis Medical Center and has a skull fracture and is labeled in critical condition. The brother and girlfriend were then arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness.

First of all: Eww. No way would we ever do that here in the city -- we've seen the Dirty Jobs episode where Mike Rowe goes through the SF sewers. Secondly: Eww. Really? That's just too too gross.

Darwin, Darwin, Darwin!!!

Serious Darwin. Remember that guy whose head was taken off by the Broadway Tunnel a few years ago?

Technically, Darwin Awards are always posthumously conferred, so these people are Darwin wannabees, not true eligible contestants.

dumbass is lucky he still has a head.

tell the grandkids about that, batch!

but the most important thing to take home from this is that the motorist got a FLAT TIRE.

I saw that Dirty Jobs episode too. I really felt for him when he mentioned that he wasn't just in the tiny, cramped, barely 5' high sewers but that he was in the sewers under the Tenderloin.
