SFist Watches: Your Locals On Reality TV

lisa_antonia.jpegFirst, let's once again acknowledge the enduring presence of Lisa on "Top Chef." No, she's not a local, but we like to think she is at least partially responsible for the elimination of our four locals from the competition, so she's worth mentioning. Part one of the finale last week demonstrated what is inherently wrong with "Top Chef"'s judging scheme. It's not cumulative; any chef can go home based on the dish being judged during that particular week, regardless of past excellence. Which means completely mediocre chefs can stay on week after week because another, better chef happened to under cook some beans. Hence, Antonia was eliminated and Lisa goes to the final three. And we know you all hate her, but you could at least offer her some congratulations, don't you think? [/sarcasm]

In other reality TV locals news, "Last Comic Standing" made a stop in San Francisco for some auditions that included old-timer Larry "Bubbles" Brown. And we mean "old-timer" with much respect; those who listened to Alex Bennett's morning radio program in the '90s will no doubt remember many a hilarious Larry "Bubbles" Brown moment. Unfortunately, he was apparently too funny for the show, as he didn't make the cut. Another local, Joe Klocek, was equally hilarious, but he didn't make it to the show either. Waah-waaaah.

robertshirt.jpgWhich leaves us with "The Bachelorette." Local bachelor Robert continues to kind of creep us out, and last week was no exception. He spent most of his screen time with his shirt partially unbuttoned, and it was all we could focus on. That's a look not many men can pull off. Perhaps Fabio, and that's because he's, you know, Fabio, but that's about it. Robert's unbuttoned shirt was perhaps most distracting when DeAnna decided to give him the group date rose, and she had a bitch of a time pinning that boutonniere to his sagging collar. Personally, we'd have revoked that rose right then and there. If it can't stand upright on your shirt, you're out of here.
