A couple days after a woman was fatally stuck and killed by a 71-Haight-Noriega bus at Sixth and Market streets, a man was hit by a 12-Folsom bus (our favorite line!). According to CBS 5, the accident occurred around 8:50 a.m. this yesterday morning "when a 12-Folsom line bus leaving the Muni terminal turned from Howard Street onto Embarcadero and collided with another vehicle," which then resulted in a smack down with a passerby.
The unidentified person was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital. His condition is not yet known.
Not other bus lines were affected after the crash. The driver, though, will undergo drug and booze test, and has been placed on temporary leave until the accident's investigation is finished.
Update: The Ex has word that "a woman driving southbound on Embarcadero in an older model Lexus (how tacky) ran a red light at The Embarcadero and Howard Street," causing the collision.

Wow ... not only did the driver manage run a red light and hit a bus, but his or her car also, according to The Examiner, spun out of control and hit a pedestrian. How do you say "SLOW THE (censored for the kids) DOWN!"

My guess is that the driver of the 12-line was running late (as usual) and was trying to make a light or just make up some time and hence caused the accident.
It seems as though the 12-line is very inconsistent, whether due to traffic or too many stops along the route. All I know is that every morning, safe money is on betting that the bus can show up at any time and rarely on time.
Oops ... I should clarify, my understanding is that it was NOT the Muni driver that ran a red light. It was some woman driving an older model Lexus that ran into the bus, and the collision with the bus then spun the Lexus car out of control and the car hit a pedestrian (not the bus). That's according to today's Examiner on Page 8 anyway (I've given up trying to find links on their web site)
(an aside: i can find plenty of links on the ex site...to other sites. agreed, very frustrating.)

It was on the front page.
Read the dateline, this was yesterday's news.
Thanks Zippy! I didn't even go to the Examiner.com site to look ... past frustrations and all. :)
