Spare the Air Day Tomorrow, But No Free Rides

carsymbol03.jpg

In addition to Ride Your Big Wheel to Work Day, tomorrow, May 15, is also Spare the Air Day. But here's the nasty rub: there will be no free transit.

Pft.

How dare Bay Area citizens not receive a free ride tomorrow. The nerve. This makes little sense. Especially since we are asked to celebrate Spare the Air Day by driving less, taking public transportation, performing something somewhat orgasmic sounding called "trip-linking," walking, biking, purchasing non-gasoline-powered lawn and garden equipment, and eschewing polluting household products.

Boo on the last item. You can take our Pine-Sol and Clorox Bleach bottles from our cold, dead hands. The smell of bleach is the smell of clean.

Nothing works as well as bleach.

Dudes, have you never seen an episode of CSI? Bleach does not, I repeat, not get rid of the blood stains.

KatgG,

you break my heart when you say such things about bleach.

I lost me to Bleach

I lost my meth to trip-linking.

Dude, I'm just saying, from one who knows...

When you have troublesome blood stains, try using hydrogen peroxide to get them out.

But it does get rid of the appearance of blood so as long as you don't have a black light in your room or give a CSI a reason to suspect you...

Bad polluting product. Great Nirvana album!

damn cheap bastards...

Grapefruit juice is good for breaking down enzymes in the blood, making clean-up a breeze.

For smallish amounts of blood, and more usually, cat vomit, we use a product called White Wizard. Somewhat unfortunate name. But it works!

I haven't tested it with Luminol. Luminol is the stuff you spray the room down with when you suspect an ax murderer has been present: it binds with trace amounts of hemoglobin and the result is what's highly visible under black light.

Next time you've made a bloody mess, try to use some CrossZyme or some EfferZyme tablets. The stuff works really well on bodily fluids and oils.

You folks are a fountain of wisdom. Heloise couldn't do any better!

So they're only doing one free transit day all year? While the idea of a planned free transit day makes sense it's not going to help much. When there was free transit it not only benefited those of us who always use transit as a reward, but it at least provided an incentive for people to listen. Now I seriously doubt that most people will even give a shit. There's no reward, no punishment... it's going to become yet another unheeded "help the Earth!" cry in a vast sea of them.
