Suicide In Union Square
We just received the following alert from a reader. Very tragic:
Suicide in Union Square, jumped off building, blocks closed off, assorted people freaking out...super fucked. My guy was walking down to that area and saw some block(s) around O'Farrell and Powell closed off and cops everywhere. Ambulance folk huddled around what is presumably a body. And (shudder) at least one person sobbing into a cell phone saying (correctly) that it's the most horrible thing she's ever seen.
The only thing we can confirm is that there was a suicide at the H&M building this afternoon. More info as it comes in.

According to a reader:
[The suicide victim] was on the 4th floor of the building at 150 Powell St. they evacuated H&M, but the upper floors still had whatever company employe[e]s in it... i dont know how long he was up there. but i got there at 255 and saw him jump at 3:30...i think there had been someone in the window [counseling] him.. as he had started to move around and appeared to be talking to someone inside the window.
Also, if you plan on taking your life, call these guys first, or better yet, go have an In-n-Out Burger at Fishermen's Wharf. The taste of a Double-Double alone will show you that life is, in fact, worth living. That, and realizing you're a San Francisco resident (living in the greatest city on earth!) and not a pastel-wearing tourist.
