SFist Mihi is careful not to violate the Hold Review policy of the SFIFF when writing up her review of soon-to-be-blockbuster opening night movie The Last Mistress!
The opening night movie of the San Francisco International Film Festival was Director Catherine Breillat's The Last Mistress. Now, you may be wondering why we're writing about The Last Mistress now when opening night was over a week ago. Well, SFIFF has a hold policy on certain movie reviews until they open commercially, but we can't stop talking about the actor in The Last Mistress, Fu'ad Aït Aattou and his honking big lips and we desperately need to get this out of our system.
This man had lips so big it looked like someone had sewn an engorged vagina on his face. The moment old vagina face made his appearance on the screen we were overcome with an animal desire to do unspeakable things to his face. We're not sure what sort of unholy union could produce lips like that. Maybe Angelina Jolie had sex with a pillow? Can he even eat with those things? If you're a vegetarian and you kiss him, are you technically a vegetarian anymore, because those are some meaty suckers he's got stuck to his face.

Catherine Breillat is known for making movies with raw and sometimes disturbing sexuality and this period piece about the French aristocracy before the rise of the bourgeoisie, featuring the debauched and languid Asia Argento certainly has a sexy vibe. Argento plays vag face's mistress and they're in one of those relationships that neither of them can seem to escape. Argento slinks around in all her scenes, arching her back and biting her lips and basically giving off an oily just-had-sex vibe, but even she fades into the background when pillow lips comes on screen. The SFIFF guide calls him a "bee-stung beauty" but we think maybe he got attacked by several hives full of Africanized killer wasps. His lips are off the hook!
We thoroughly enjoyed The Last Mistress and we're trying not to give away any plot points in the movie in violation of SFIFF policy. We'd recommend the movie when it's distributed. If you don't find the story of obsessive relationships compelling, well, you know where we're going here.

Hard to say - loads of mixed messages.
Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johanssen's lips are WAY more prominent.
I guess any degree of full-mouthed-ness is less common & less-to-be-expected on a man, so its more startling (though he CAN be very androgynous-looking at times). Click on my avatar and see the guy. And at the link provided in the article.
She seems to think the movie will be a hit tho ("soon-to-be-blockbuster")I loved it. The entire audience was falling off their chairs laughing at times when I went, yet some of it was quite dark & sad too.
