Images of Today's Torch Rally at Embarcadero/Protest at Golden Gate Bridge
Some images of today's torch relay/protest/insanity/Newsomness as the torch run turned into, well, complete chaos. Whew, what a day.
Brian Brooks, Jessica Kraft, and Chase Tingley: thanks for the sharp shots today of the Olympic torch melee.

The SFTORCH text updates said that a torch bearer at Van Ness and Chestnut pulled out a Tibetan flag and had their torch taken away. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I haven't heard that anywhere else.
Quick! Someone hit the Bjork-Signal!
This is the first time I've ever been happy to have been stuck at 850 Bryant on jury duty, thus missing this chaos. Thank you United States justice system!
Umm, not the Golden Gate Bridge. The *gray* bridge is the *Bay* Bridge. (You guys from Philadelphia or somewhere east of Oakland?)
there are shots of fun things happening at both the embarcadero (featuring the bay bridge in the background) and at the golden gate bridge, genius.
To the man with the "NO MSG" sign:
I LOVE YOU.
Next time, they should merge this event with the weekly Hash House Harriers run, the monthly Critical Mass ride, and the occasional Pillow Fight.
Fire, protestors, booze, costumes, motor vehicles, bicycles, and goosedown weaponry!

And, somewhere I saw a picture of "Andre Michael" taking a little Tibetan flag out of his sleeve--he was another runner. Not finding it in any of my searches but saw it on Washingtonpost.com a few hours ago, I think.
Yeah, just found it on Washingtonpost.com, can't link to pic (it's Flash) but here's caption: Torch-bearer Andrew Michael holds up his finger with a small Team Tibet tag in front of it while carrying the Olympic torch during the Beijing Olympic torch relay, Wednesday, April 9, 2008, in San Francisco. Nice work, Andrew! Here's a bio on the dude from NBC-11:
"Andrew Michael, 45 San Francisco - Andrew is guided by the principle of “Arre Mana Anbu Payamaria-adu.” which is Tamil for “Love strong and Fearless” as taught by the Franciscan Nuns in Chennai, India. He serves as of Vice President for Sustainable Development for the Bay Area Council and is Director of Partnerships For Change. His groups have been able to build a free school for 1500 kids of the slums directly impacted by the wave tsunami in Eastern India. In addition he has partnered with the nuns of Bon Secour to build a Women’s Empowerment Center to provide vocational training for the lowest caste and clean water for a village 70kilometers from Chennai."
Torch run? Looks more like the Policeman's Ball to me. The Mayor is a punk, and we got punk'd.
needs more streakers
Two torchbearers with tibetan flags. Here is a photo of Majora Carter, I presume.
@DJTennessee: There were three naked dudes, but I think streaking usually requires running and these guys were just strutting around:

The rest of my pics from the protest have no nekkid.
