A "50 to 70 years old" was struck by a Muni bus at around 2 p.m. today at Geary and Fillmore. It seems that a 38-Geary smacked the guy, and, according to the Gate, the bus was "traveling eastbound toward downtown [when it] struck the pedestrian...as he walked north on Fillmore Street."
The man was whisked away to San Francisco General Hospital. Also, the unidentified driver of the bus was given a drug-and-alcohol test, routine after these kind of accidents, according to Muni spokesman Judson True.
Oh, and in sort-of related news, did you see a bus hit a man on Jan. 25 at 10th Street and Mission? Then, you should read this flyer.

At least the buses are moving. Mystery delay in the metro ob. No word when fixed... No shuttles... Grrrr.
People keep admonishing me to take public transportation. Why should I listen to them? MUNI KILLS PEOPLE.
I'm calling a cab. And I have an awesome parking spot right in front of my place that I'm not giving up.
Come on, Muni! You kill people and you try to showboat your way out of it! w0w. just w0w.
how come the 10th/mission incident wasn't on the news? was it a hit-and-run?
:p
around 6:30 another 38 bus took the door off a car near van ness. my buddy was on the bus when it happened. I guess the guy was stupid and opened his door into traffic and WHAM, good ol' #38 took the door as payment.
The MUNI gods are vengeful.
Does MUNI have a special cleaning crew for the accidents to scrape and spray?
They must work a lot of OT
Man, the hysteria. It's a city, people will get sacrificed to the gods of civilization. Or at least the machineries thereof. Seriously people, and I'm certainly not blaming victims here, but move to Rossmoor.
I was just reading over someone's shoulder on Muni today and noticed an article about this. It made me shudder. There is going to be a protest. Then there will be a call for action. And then the bus will slow from the already dismal average of 8 MPH to 4 MPH. Retarded.
I just spent a week in Amsterdam. Yeah I smoked so you don't have to ask... Their streets are tiny. Their trams (light rail) are long and fast. Like wayyyy fast. Like holy shit fast. And they blast through intersections, public squares, and tiny ass pedestrian malls dinging a cute little bell. It was wonderful. Someone gets tagged by one of these trams daily. And the only logical conclusion there is that the dumb ass in front of the tram should have been careful.
Why cant Muni run like this? I see fat girls walking faster than the 45 in SOMA. WTF? It takes me an hour to travel 2.5 miles on the underground and that thing is in a friccin tunnel. Why isn't it hitting 80 between stops?
I am grateful we have buses and trains to ride and will never stop using them as my sole transportation. I just wish it didn't take 2 xanax and a klonopin to survive my commute.
gee ianwelles, maybe you should talk to gavin
about your drug problem....he could probably give you a referral. maybe you won't survive your commute because you're overdosing?
Did the dude cross against the light? That's all that matters.
Yeah, man.... If you cross against the light MUNI can't slow down and it will kill you.
Progress can not be slowed for mere human life.
