Muni to Host Bicycle Plan Open House

MSbiker.jpgFor such a hilly town, we sure do have a lot of bicyclists. In case you're of the cyclist persuasion and want to see what kinds of fun new routes our city will be adding, tomorrow at the Grove Street auditorium from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Muni will be hosting an open house of sorts to discuss improvements of the bicycle routes in San Francisco.

The SFMTA Bicycle Program is planning the next generation of improvements to the citywide bicycle route network. A total of 60 proposed bicycle improvement projects have been identified in neighborhoods throughout San Francisco. If the Bicycle Plan is fully implemented, approximately 34 miles of bike lanes would be added to the route network, almost doubling the City's bicycle lane mileage.

For more info, visit the home for our city's bike program on the Muni site. And for goodness' sake, don't let anyone see you drive to the meeting. You'll never live it down.

You've got to be about as brilliant as granite to ride around in this town without a helmut.

Fashion first...she's cute, but I ain't sticking around to chew her food for her after the crash.

also notice how the car is merging into the lane and the bicyclist is just barely avoiding getting hit.

scary!

"hillarys_quivering_lip" ...stop being so paranoid...it's not that bad.

Enjoy your jello cup. Get a helmet moron.

It's not that bad ... UNTIL YOU FALL ON YOUR HEAD.

Wear a freaking helmet.

The messenger bag protects her from all injury. Beside the car is giving her plenty of room by SF standards, it's straddling the white divider thingy, and she's halfway out in the lane where the should be instead of bobbling along at the curb.

im getting sick of all these riders not wearing a helmet. hello drivers are not going to change and unless you do both occasionally you understand both parties. actually the other day I almost got jammed by another fellow asshole pedaler, that failed to stop the red light and I had the green light. bad bad bad...

HELMETS ARE SEXY. wear one.

To all the pro-helmet people, you *do* know that the science and statistics behind helmet safety are legitimately questionable, right?

manys - and those hipster haircuts aren't?

At least her bike has brakes, so she can, like, stop, and stuff.

All I know is I have a friend whose life was saved by a helmet. She needed to get some dental work after a particularly nasty crash, but she's still alive.
