San Francisco's Tap Water Reigns Surpeme

Although last week's test on the American tap water by chemists claims to have detected the sex hormone estradiol -- found such vertebrate animals as birds, reptiles, and fish -- a more recent test conducted by the American Waterworks Association Research Foundation, says that San Francisco's "best tasting" H20 has come up sparkling clean.
The Gate reports that our tap water, which is really quite tasty compared to, say, the waters of Southern California or elsewhere, has traces of neither pharmaceuticals nor chemical solvents that were previously reported. It seems that "[t]he mistake apparently resulted from confusion over the waterworks foundation's laboratory test results conveyed by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission to the Associated Press."
This should come as no surprise to Bay Area residents. It's not shocking that most of us are shocked after our first taste from the tap here. While most cities and states have to drink treated water, San Francisco has "bragging rights over pure Hetch Hetchy Reservoir water surrounded by nearly 500 square miles of Yosemite Valley wilderness." Snap.

Our tap water just rocks. Sorry, only fools buy bottled water around here.
Very true. But looking around I see a lot of fools :(
This is of course assuming that the pipes in your building are ok. I'm sure that all landlords in SF have made sure that their pipes are all up to snuff.
In San Francisco you need to worry about the last 100 feet of victorian era pipes between your faucet and the water main and what they may be adding.
In good ol SF you only have to worry about bums peep and poop landing in your drinking water and viagra from the castro. Drink up!!!
Yeah, but you can use an inline filter at the tap or under the sink if you're worried about the building pipes.
As much as I love SF, nothing compares to the tap water in West Hollywood. It's better than any other water (bottled, tap, flat, bubbly) I've ever tasted. Maybe it's full of coke or something...
I guess it depends on who you trust. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5icN7crmm4sqkA9fTarT4mRQMbmsQD8V0U2JG0
Having lived in both areas, I'd have to say unfiltered LA tap water beats out what I get up here..
It's not just the water to worry about, it's almost everything you touch and buy, not to mention the air we breathe.
Anderson Cooper on CNN did a program about pollution and had a mega blood test for hundreds of obscure toxins, and he had surprising numbers of them. Even the doctors didn't know why.
So think the next time you spray windex, polish the silver, use shaving cream or bubble bath, whip up something in a no-stick pan etc etc.
We are all walking cancer candidates thanks to better living thru chemistry.
A little water coke and xanax is nothing to fret about compared to the rest of the stuff in us.
