Mayor Newsom Endorses Mark Leno

leno_Mayo.jpg

After Carole Migden won the endorsement of the Harvey Milk Club, things were looking grim for Assemblyman Mark Leno. But today Gavin Newsom shined his megawatt charm over in Leno's direction today, endorsing his bid for a state Senate seat. According to the B.A.R., " Newsom [is] expected to publicly endorse Leno Wednesday night at the Herbst Theatre during a special screening of Pursuit of Equality..."

Leno is trying to dethrone state Senator Carole Migden from her Third District seat. The two bent lawmakers will go head to head during the June 3 primary. (Another election? Oh man.) San Francisco Police Commissioner Joseph Alioto Veronese and former state Assemblyman Joe Nation (who, it seems, just entered the race last Saturday) will also make an attempt to steal the seat, but neither candidate is expected to win.

That is not a cute picture of either of my boyfriends. What gives, BAR?

really? i think newsom looks nice and meaty here.

Mark is in a BOLO TIE, Brock! I repeat, a BOLO TIE. Sibling of the fanny pack. Although I do like the placement of that gilded frame around his head.
And that's young, rosey cheeked, drinkin' Gavin. How I long for those days. What's he doing in that pocket?

June 3rd? Awww nuts. how lame. Why can't they do this election in November, the election everyone should be looking forward to.

June 3 is the primary for the race. November is the general election, when the Democratic primary winner faces some hapless Republican and maybe someone from the Green Party.

This is no news at all. These two can have each other for all I care. Both look good (bolo tie excluded) but don't do shit. Migden gets the job done.

"Mark Leno don't do shit"????? You jest. He is outstanding.

go on wit' yo bad self, mark, cement the evils of that friendship into your progressive followers' hearts.

btw, that could also just be a skinny tie, folks. they're baaaack.

Oh, well. This is interesting.

Does that mean Peskin endorses Migden?

Mark's shirt and tie (be it bolo or not) is beyond fulgy! That isn't even fashionable in Sacramento!

Newsom endorsed Leno? I think Midgen just won my vote.

Write me down for supporting Migden .... she's doing a fine job. I'll vote for Mark after Carole is termed out of her job ... surely there's a non-profit or something he can serve in the meanwhile.

Please be sure to show up and vote NO on all of the ballot box budgeting and other crap the Supervisors are tossing off to the voters to decide instead of manning up and making a decision themselves.

How often do the mayor's endorsees win? As I recall, a Newsom endorsement is the kiss of death.

yeah, newsom's endorsement doesn't really mean much. it will have little effect come voting time.
