More Milk Extras Needed for March Reenactment

Starting this week, as we all know by now, Palme d'Or-winning writer/directer Gus Van Sant starts filming Milk on our pretty yet smelly streets. But Gustave needs your help, folks. On Monday night, Feb. 4, and Friday night, Feb. 8, he will require you use your thespionic skills during several march reenactments. If you go here and register, you will be used. All ages, races and genders are just dandy; however, you must be 18 or over to participate. Alas.
A few things to know before going into your debut film, costume-wise:
Items that are DISCOURAGED
- NO Trendy designer jeans with overt modern finishes; extremely faded legs, wiskering, embroidery, large logos, etc. [i.e., no zhooshing, fags. -- bk]
- NO clothing with branding such as Abercrombie, Nike, Gap, etc; NO overt phrases or logos.
- NO clothing items that are made from identifiable modern materials such as Polar Fleece, Velcro, gore tex, etc.
- NO modern-looking sneakers that appear to be made with advanced materials, air pumps, clear rubbers, etc.
- NO Garish bright colors such as BRIGHT white or red, or "Wacky" disco-themed '70s "Halloween Costumes" [i.e., no burners]
Items that are ENCOURAGED:
And as a thanks for participation, you will get to sit in the Castro Theater and watch a documentary, The Times of Harvey Milk, on Monday, Feb 4th at the Castro Theater. Filmmakers Rob Epstein, Cleve Jones, Gus Van Sant, and members of the cast will be on hand to thank you all you peons for your effort.

"Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue."
This is awesome. Now, what to wear, what to wear.....!!
I have a photo album of Milk-era gay guys if anyone wants some crib notes. I looked through it and pretty much every guy dresses like Harvey Milk.
It's from my late friend Doug who moved out here rather hastily from Chicago in 1968, if you know what I mean.
Hey is Frank Chu allowed to be in this?
I should hope not.
Tom Ammiano gets to play himself, so why not Frank also?
They'll just need to change his sign so that it talks about only just three galaxies.
I still have some of the same clothes from the actual time all of this actually happened. Clone.
The flanel shirt and black boots are coming out kids. Thank god I never throw anything out.
The only label we knew back then was Levis, so I'm locked and loaded.
Yeah, I'm ancient. I remember the riots, the funerals...

Frank Chu was around in the 70s?
So I went to watch them filming today ....
Way cool.
Sean looks a lot like Harvey, today being 1970, when he met Cleve Jones while in front of his camera store, passing out flyers to "Vote!". Emile Hirsch as Cleve, is adorable.
It helped to have the real Cleve Jones standing near me, watching, and the lovely Danny Nicoletta (who worked in the store) next to me to chat with.
These guys are troupers, filming for hours today in that freezing rain. Brrr....!
Bits of that block of Castro Street, and the Castro Theater marquis look exactly like they did back then. It was amazing ....
Sean is inhabiting the character, as he does... and they did many many takes.
it's going to be filming there for weeks, til March on and off....

and scoop! to anyone who still reads comments this far away from front page . . . This Monday & Tuesday they are recreating a Castro Street Fair . . .
Is Penn going to tongue kiss any guys?
I would imagine...? He was 'cruising' Emile Hirsch yesterday, but not physically, just verbally and with his eyes. Go figure. Who knows? Would be cool if he did, and would suck if he didn't.
they couldn't possibly have done filming today? in this weather??
