So So Many White White Tigers

IMG_7384a.jpg

SFist Jim reports that he went to the reopening of the San Francisco Zoo today, where he snapped the picture, above, of the tributes being placed at the zoo's tiger statue, and which he described as "a big bust." When we first read SFist Jim's email, we thought he was talking about the tiger statue (we were like, "they made a bust of Tatiana? So fast!"), but no, he meant the crowds, which were sparse to the point where there was more media there than zoo visitors.

And -- oh, San Francisco. Where else do they leave presents for killer tigers? Remember the (admittedly in the minority) pro-Presa Canario response after Dianne Whipple was killed? Will they put up a bust of Dan White to sit next to the one of Harvey Milk? For the record, the zoo is saying that the tributes being left at the statue are for both Tatiana and Carlos Sousa Jr., though we don't think the white stuffed tiger, above, is intended for the victim.

Unless it is discovered that someone was throwing Twinkies at Dan White, my guess is no.

And -- oh, San Francisco. Where else do they leave presents for killer tigers?

And where else do you drown your pregnant wife on Christmas Eve only to become the region's hunkiest sex symbol?

"Will they put up a bust of Dan White to sit next to the one of Harvey Milk?"

Tigers are wild predators, even in captivity. Attacking and killing a human is like your or me microwaving a burrito - not a crime like a premeditated assasination of public officials. I don't think your analogy is 100% appropriate.

It's pretty clear now that both are victims of the two (possibly three) asshats to did the taunting.

Yes, but it's 100% hilarious.

Um, aren't all tigers "killer tigers?" People are furious that human error and abuse lead to the death of both a rare animal and a young man. But I think the grief over Natasha's death is sort of displaced anger towards the two survivors who in all likelihood participated in some sort of activity that lead to the death of their friend and now plan on "getting rich" by suing everyone with the aid of their lawyer, Mark Gorgoroth...

Oh my G-d, they killed Natasha!

Where else do they leave presents for killer tigers?

The same place where apparently ignorance qualifies as wit?

The questions that need to be answered are:
Why were sadistic thugs with weapons allowed into the zoo, after hours? Who was there to protect this rare animal from the cruelty of being attacked by cowards with high powered sling-shots repeatedly striking this caged beast?
Where were the police when this animal was being tortured by these scum-bags? They were there to kill Tatiana when they should have been there to protect her in the first place.
Since animal cruelty is a hall-mark of every serial killer, who knows, maybe this tiger saved some future victims life.

Jim - Do you know what the scarf says? Looks like it might read, "RIP Tatiana."

oh.. Tatiana.. whatever... some random Russian chick's name..

i think the weather kept most folks away. give us a chance to go out there when the beaufort scale is less than 10 before calling it a bust will ya?

R.I.P Tatiana seems like a safe bet.

I didn't pay attention to that so I don't know for sure.

Looks like "RIP Tati"

Word. RIP Tati it is.

There's a Hello Kitty representation in there as well on the "scarf", apparently.
