Sen. Don Perata Carjacked in Oakland, Car Found Safe/Sound

06charger-srt8.jpg

California State Senate President pro tempore Don Perata's car was recovered today in Richmond after Saturday's carjacking. The auto theft happened while he as en route to Oakland City Councilman Ignacio De La Fuente's house to deliver a holiday gift. It seems that while waiting at a stop light at 51st Street and Shattuck Avenue in his red four-door 2006 Dodge Charger - very masculine and patriotic, Senator - a young man came up to his driver side window and tapped the glass with his gun, , forcing Perata out of the car.

Shaken but uninjured by the violent crime, and brimming with a touch of enviable forgiveness toward his attacker, the California Democratic Senator went on to say:

There are too damn many guns out there and now I have exhibit a. I've known it, but now I really know it, and it's very frightening -- having a gun three feet from your face and any mistake and that would be the end of it. He's a young kid, I'm not excusing it, but guys like that make dumb mistakes.

As a staunch gun control advocate, Perata sure does make a great case. Especially with Saturday's unfortunate first-hand encounter with a barrel of a gun. Then again, Pandora's Box is already open.

Any gun control or 2nd Amendment superfans care to weigh in? Shoot.

This is the same Don Perata who, being such a fan of passing gun control laws that he then felt scared enough to buy a handgun himself _and_ pull the strings to acquire a concealed weapons permit. That's while he was publicly against the rights of commoners to do the same.

But I won't go into the blame-the-victim mode and say that driving a new Charger with twentyz in Oakland is just begging to get ripped off... oh wait.

So, he says that "there are too damn many guns out there." I guess that means he'd rather have been carjacked at knifepoint.

Not twentyz, they're 22'z.

Must be aftermarket.

i was hoping you'd post something about this soon. i can't believe this dumbass has that car with those rims. he's as lame as that 17 year old dj from san jose. where the hell did he grow up?

Nice work, Black Muslim Bakery!

We already went through the 2nd amendment debate earlier this year after the Virginia Tech massacre.

What exactly does Perata "sure make a great case" for? Minors are already banning from owning guns, so the law couldn't have prevented this. And don't even say "all guns should be banned" because that's too stupid of an argument to engage in.

And as is noted above, Perata carries a concealed handgun himself, so he's a total hypocrite on the issue.

this just in, don perata not the cleanest politician in sacramento, replaces two front teeth with gold to better identify with his constituents:

Perata doesn't have a permit anymore.
