Tomorrow. Milk Club Showdown. Be There.

catfightlenocarole.jpg
It's back on, folks. The Harvey Milk Club endorsement vote happens tomorrow. Again. If you remember their last meeting, voting members caught the vapors, pulled out clumps of their own hair, ran around in circles, cried -- fun hysteria like that.

Ever since that childish display of local politicking, all sides have been more or less civil and relatively respectful of one another. It goes without say how disappointed we are in both sides. Where's the name calling? Where are the sock puppeting commenters? Where's the unbridled hate? Sigh.

Anyway, our sources tell us that "[t]his is it. Migden will either get 60% of the vote to get the endorsement, or she won't and then nobody will get endorsed this go around." And if you're not attending one of the many open-bar holiday parties blessing bars and nightclubs around city, we highly recommend attending this endorsement meeting.

The Harvey Milk Club votes on endorsements for the February 2008 election and the June 2008 State Senate primary tomorrow, December 11, 7 p.m. to 9 at the Women's Building. Ladies, clip your nails; men, wear your cups. It might get dirty.

The Milk Club's (AKA the, ahem, HMLGBTDC) press release about tomorrow's meeting after the jump.

Dear members,

As you know, there has been a lively debate in the Milk Club about the upcoming election endorsements. There is a significant difference of opinion, both among the board and among the membership, about the endorsement schedule.

Below is the endorsement schedule recommended by the PAC and a majority of the Eboard. There is disagreement over whether or not this schedule was properly approved by a vote of the general membership.

Those who agree with the schedule believe the vote was valid, and that there will be a December 11th endorsement meeting that will include an early endorsement vote for the CA state senate district 3.

Those who disagree with this schedule believe the vote was invalid, and that the December 11th endorsement meeting and any results from it will be invalid.

In the spirit of democracy and transparency, we offer this information so that you, our members, can decide for yourselves what to do.

ENDORSEMENT SCHEDULE
----------------------------------------------

The Harvey Milk Club PAC will meet on Saturday, December 8 at the LGBT Center (in the Ceremonial Room, 4th Floor) from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. to consider and make recommendations for Club endorsements for the February 2008 election (presidential primary and local and state ballot measures) and the June 2008 State Senate primary. Members must have attended the October 2nd PAC meeting, October 23rd General Membership meeting, or November 7 PAC meeting to vote at the December 8 PAC. Members are encouraged to attend the entire PAC meeting; however, they may request a ballot after attending for one hour.

The Harvey Milk Club general membership will vote on endorsements for the February 2008 election and the June 2008 State Senate primary on Tuesday, December 11 from 7 to 9 pm at the Women's Building at 3543 18th Street, between Guerrero and Valencia.

New members must have joined on or prior to September 25 to be eligible to vote on either December 8 or December 11. Lapsed members whose memberships have expired within the previous six months are eligible to renew and vote at either meeting.

Reminder: there will not be a PAC meeting on December 4th, and there will not be a general membership meeting on December 25 (for obvious reasons).
