Muni's Guide to the Weekend: Parolees on Parade

parol.png
Oh, wait, that's parol, not parole. Apparently a parol is some kind of Xmas ornament. Cute. Well, anyway, as far as we can make out, there's going to be some ornament-making arts and crafts, and then a SOMA procession honoring them on Saturday. That doesn't sound too objectionable.

Also: a football game, or whatever sport the 49ers are. Full details after the jump.

SFMTA Announces Transit and Traffic Impacts this Weekend

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) advises San Francisco residents and visitors of the following event-related traffic and transit impacts this weekend, Saturday, December 8—Sunday, December 9, 2007. Event participants and fun seekers should check with www.sfmta.com or call 311 to find out which of the 80 Muni lines will get them where they want to go.

Parol Lantern Festival Parade

On Saturday, December 8, at 5:00 p.m. the 3rd annual Parol Lantern Festival Parade will begin from the Bayanihan Center at Mission and 6th Streets and finish at Yerba Buena Gardens.

No closures or transit re-routes are planned. SFPD will provide traffic control along the route.

49ers Football Game

The 49ers will host a home game on Sunday, December 9 against the Minnesota Vikings at 1:05 p.m. at Monster Park. Drivers should expect delays on city streets near the park and US 101 before and after the game.

For service to and from the game, Muni customers can take the K/T-Third Line to the Gilman/Paul station and transfer to the Football Shuttle. The Football Shuttle is free for T-Third customers who simply show a transfer.

Pre-game Service to Monster Park:

· 9X-Monster Park Express – from Sutter and Sansome

· 28X-Monster Park Express – from California and Funston

· 47X-Monster Park Express – from California and Van Ness

· 86S-Monster Park Shuttle – from Bacon and San Bruno

Post-game Service from Monster Park:

· 9X-San Bruno Express – to Kearny & Sutter

· 28L-19th Ave. Limited – to Park Presidio & California

· 47-Van Ness – to Van Ness & North Point

· 86S-Monster Park Shuttle – to Bacon & San Bruno

All of the above routes, except the 86S-Monster Park Shuttle, are Special Event Fare Service with an adult fare of $7.00 roundtrip. Please go to www.sfmta.com for fare details.

Thanks Muni for the hour-long ride to Embarcadero last night from the inner sunset. The tunnel had such a backup, it was stop and go all the way in. Normally this is a 25-30 minute ride. Coming home wet from the rain, I decided not to take Muni. After unsuccessfully trying to get a cab for 15 minutes in the rain (in a cab zone by the Hyatt), I opted to take a limo that was passing by. Score: Muni -1. Cabs 0. Limo 1.

Wow. What an extremely lazy post. Would it have hurt to do a little research on parols and given a better description than "some kind of Xmas ornament"

I hope someone on your staff who has at least a small interest in Filipino culture will be doing a separate post about the Parol Lantern Festival Parade.
