Failed Suicide Attempt at UC Hastings

Today, a little before noon, a suicide attempt occurred at Hastings Law School. We received the information via our Contribute section (which, by all means, do) and from Introducing Ashley. (Aw) She reports that a "female student had attempted to jump from the 21st floor. Luckily, her friends and local police were able to talk her back inside."
What's more, she goes on to say in her blog that "[i]t is amazing to me how much death there is at UC Hastings. We seem to be averaging one suicide a term." Really? Why are UC Hastings law students trying to off themselves at such a (seemingly) high rate? Hey, most of us wanted to get into Boalt, but that doesn't mean that things won't get better. Chin up, UCH.

hahaha....we all wanted to go to boalt....so good....
one more failure to add to her resume? brutal.
Attempted suicide while studying law is an entirely reasonable course of action, in my view.
Yeah, and on November 16 I'll probably be joining her.
Can she sue UC before passing the Bar? It's all their fault.
Why was she on the 21st floor?
Were there safety screens on the the windows?
Call Perry Mason ASAP!
Why anyone would contemplate spending their last moments on this earth at Hastings completely escapes me.
We are such a bunch of heartless bastards.
"Why are you counting law students as 2/10'th of a person?"
"It doesn't fall to zero until they pass the bar."

Being serious, in case any Hastings 1Ls are reading this, here is that rare thing 99 percent of lawyers agree on: Law school sucks. Period. Esp. at a competitive school like Hastings.
Despite local legends, very few people at Hastings or any other schools around here actually flunk out. At the end of it all, no matter where you end up on the curve, you'll have a JD, you'll get a job, and you'll most likely pass the bar like eighty something percent of Hastings students. Then you'll be a disgruntled lawyer like the rest of us. Something to, uh, look forward to.
Just to clarify. There were 2 deaths last year-- not suicides to my knowledge. Both deaths were from natural causes.
