SFist Photo: Gavin Newsom's State of the City, Unfiltered

Mayor Gavin Newsom just clocked in 95 minutes discussing the state of our city. Did you miss the web broadcast? Well, look for it here or here - they should have something up soon.
What do you think was the most interesting part? Our mayor breaking the fourth wall by walking into the crowd? The litany of "audacious ideas"? The chart showing "Black on Black Gang Homicides" from year to year? Talk of that giant bougie arachnid called Bourgeois Spider? There was a lot of territory to cover.
This was a polished performance from our young mayor. Whether you like him or not. But, as always, you make the call. A few more photos after the jump
A "little more loosely" indeed. Instead of just standing behind a lectern, Gavin was walking all over the place.

What mayor wouldn't want these companies coming to town?

Plenty of charts and numbers for the wonk in you.

The first link was for the live stream. That's dead now. The finished video will go on the second page.
It is being captioned right now, then has to be compressed. So it will be shown at 7pm tonight on Channel 26, but the online archive won't be published by the Granicus server until... 10am?, 11am? tomorrow.
Don't think you were the only one to notice that Tim Redmond from SFBG posted his own take on the State of the City speech. It's just too bad he pulled the post. Otherwise we could all have a laugh about how he accidentally reviewed the 2006 State of the City speech by mistake.
Oh wait!: http://www.sfbg.com/blogs/politics/2007/10/mayor_pothole.html
PLUSES [per the photos]:
1. He got a haircut, thereby going "green" by saving on chemicaly poisoned hair-gel.
2. He bought a new tie.
3. He correctly used a semi-colon on the HQ slide.
MINUSES:
1. There were empty seats.
2. No rainbow flag on the podium.
PLUSES:
1. Content, delivery
2. No rainbow flag on the podium
MINUSES:
1. The "new tie" appears to be from the mid-90's
2. Didn't call out Lumpy the Loser from the stage
i watched the first 20-25 minutes or so on that live stream but it died around then. my add got the best of me and i went on to something else. the slides and talking points were good. i was happy to see all the facts about spending on things that matter to me as a resident and property owner, streets, parks, etc. it made me start to wonder what happened in the previous administration that they ignored so many things we all count on every day. then i remembered willie brown was our mayor before gavin. what a disaster.
that tim redmond poke made my day. what an ass clown!
thanks for going for us Jim! This is the stuff I love to see on Sfist.
