Is San Francisco Really "Cougar Country"?

cougar1.jpg
A brand new local blog, Marina Cougar thinks so anyway. It used to be the word cougar referred only to the puma (or mountain lion - this one species of cat has many names).

These days, its primary meaning has shifted - it appears that more often people use the term to refer to an age disparity in dating. Where do cougars hang out in S.F.? See you after the jump.

Per the website, these locations have all had sightings:

5) Matrix Fillmore
4) Americano.
3) Circa
2) Sam's in Tiburon
1) Balboa Cafe

The area in North Beach near Grant and Green is specifically pointed out. That's where the lovely and popular Beth Spotswood had her infamous cougar incident. But look at the photo - these two appear to be about the same age, so this must have been a joking reference.

Some purported cougars don't seem to mind the term, and others have embraced it.

Cougars seem to be fun, fearless, females out having a good time - what's wrong with that?
