Oh No, Ed Jew!: Duct Tape
We're back from our inadvertent hiatus -- here's hoping it's a less busy week for us at the day job and an even more busy week for Ed Jew news!
Fang qi means resign in Chinese, and that seems to be what everyone's calling for, with Gavin Newsom now, with "grim determination," trying to figure out how exactly to get Ed Jew out of office and pick someone else to fill the seat, now that Ed's been indicted for federal fraud (.pdf). Who will they get to rep District 4, though? We're pulling for Sunset resident and Chron online editor Eve Batey!
Also, Newsom's apparently a little irritated that Ed refused to resign when Newsom asked him to. C'mon, that trick worked so well for his department heads!
Meanwhile, Steve Gruel, one of Ed Jew's many lawyers, says if Ed is called to testify before the city Ethics Commission as part of misconduct proceedings, they're going to move for a restraining order, and he's going to tell Ed to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights. "It will be like putting him on trial with his hands tied behind his back and duct tape over his mouth," Gruel said. Rrrowr! Sounds like Ed'll need a safe word: might we suggest "Quickly"?

I wonder why he was begging for money on his legal defense fund. I should just stick a penny on a post card and mail it to his Burlingame house (not his 28th avenue house).
I'd vote for Eve Beaty in a minute. Unfortunately, I don't live in D4. Does anyone know of one of those long dead people still on the voting logs in the Sunset so I can vote on their behalf?
Eve, I'd love to be one of your legislative assistants. I'm great at scheduling cocktail parties and writing thinly veiled insulting emails to any unruly residents who might annoy you.
This is the best that a San Francisco politician can do? Geez, these guys are an embarrassment to our beautiful city. It could be an episode on The Amateur Hour.

Jew can obtain limited immunity for only his statements/testimony at the hearing before the Board of Supervisors. Is testimony before the Supervisors is not needed for the State and Federal cases against him. He will take the 5th in those cases. Jew is a total disgrace to his family and the citizens of Burlingame.
Yeah, guest #7, I agree with your last sentence. EJ's not a disgrace to the citizens of District 4 - he doesn't live here.
