SFist Blotter
From the SFist Tips line: yet another daytime shooting yesterday, this time at 23rd and South Van Ness around 1:45 p.m, by the post office, and fatal. In a particularly brazen act, the shooters then drove by the SFPD Ingleside Station to drop off the body about an hour and a half later. You'll all be pleased to hear that the cops did at least manage to catch the person driving the car.
Those activists living in the trees at UC Berkeley admitted that okay, maaaaaaybe they cut off the tops of the trees they were complaining about the university damaging. The leader of the tree-sitting protest, Zachary RunningWolf, says that he has Native American knowledge of trees (and an arborist) and he doesn't think it's a big deal, but the Cal grounds staff say it'll significantly and permanently damage the trees' canopies.
And we were away for July 4 when this originally happened, but did you guys hear about the 200 goats killed in San Rafael when the truck transporting them tipped over? Well, the police have investigated and determined that the truck took a turn too fast -- but that the truck was only going 7 mph at the time. Goat lovers are saying the police should have freed them all to save the other 200, but the police note that it would have been a traffic nightmare to have a bunch of panicked goats running around a major intersection.
Picture of the scene on 23rd Street yesterday afternoon from CBS 5.

WHERE the hell is Ammiano?
Man, what a dumbass. (The tree sitter.)
sfpd cops couldn't catch a cold
newsom and fong and kamala are doing a hell of a job screwing up this city. how many daytime shootings do we need before they get off their overpriced, wealthy, priviliged asses, stop sucking up to rich people like the gettys and the fishers, and DO SOMETHING ABOUT CRIME?
oh wait you san francisco peeps love your mayor's hair and think kamala is pretty and that's all, so you love crime and you love danger, and you love criminals!
sf is a joke...no longer "sucker free" you're all suckers for a pretty face and a lot of money! dodge a bullet on the way to work, kids
thats also right across the street from Cala (or i guess its Delanos)
tons of street and pedestrian traffic right there, at least no bystanders got hit. or they did and no one is reporting it, per usual.
From the article about cutting the trees:
"The trees won't die from being topped but they are disfigured and as the tree responds to the topping it sends off a cluster of branches that try and resume growth. What you get is a candle opera effect"
Nice editing!
A guy was shot to death this morning as well, on 12th street.
guest #6, where on 12th Street was the shooting?
Hi Guest[7] -- I put up a post about the 12th Street shooting too; it sounds like it was at 12th and Market.
here's the link to the Chron's story:

I have to admit that I chuckled when I read that the name of the company carrying the goats was "Goats R Us."
Yay - more murder on our streets in broad daylight. I'm so glad Newsom, the Board of Supes and the city's "progressives" have spent the last umpteen months arguing over how to punish a cop for a stupid homemade video he and some other cops made. And look, a beat cop in the Tenderloin just got pulled from active duy because some drunk in the bleachers at a Giants game got a bloody nose.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is why you have murders in broad daylight - everyone knows, criminals included, that the inmates are running the asylum.
Just for clarity, the first block of 12th Street is near the intersection of South Van Ness and Mission, between South Van Ness and Howard. There is no 12th and Market. It's a weird little street.
