Shootings Heard Around Town

stssf.jpgOf course, we can't find any info about any of these alleged incidents in the usual online places, but here's a compendium of what's in the SFist Tips line and SFist itself for yesterday. We haven't confirmed if any of these are true, but thought you might want to see them anyways:

--Shots at Page and Buchanan around 8 p.m. last night.

--Shots in the Lower Haight (from SFist Dan -- not sure if this is the same as the Page/Buchanan incident listed above.)

--Ineffective cop response to hooker and pimp on Capp Street. (worth reading in its entirety!)

--Roads blocked off between 2nd/3rd Ave. and Anza (from a commenter).

--And not a shooting, but a tipster reports that a biker was killed on 3rd Street and Illinois/Marin.

Did you hear anything mysterious last night? Do you know what happened in any of these incidents?

i heard a succession of loud pop's and bang's around 2am, at grove/divisadero. i can't confirm that it was gunfire because it sounded too...rhythmic. and there wasn't the usual amount of commotion afterwards. but who knows.

Anza at 3rd was a serious-looking crash. Red Mustang vs. white van. They kept the block shut down for quite a while. Looked like somebody could have been hurt.

Not even a link on the bicycle thing?

Page/Buchanan at eight? I saw the cops at five, so it must have been two different incidents. Crikey.

I heard what sounded like a roman candle in the Lower Haight around 2am followed by sirens. I thought here were far too many pops 16->25, they all had a fizz associated with them, and they were at too regular an interval (1 second, without variation) to be gun shots.

Yep on the shots at Page and Buchanan at 8pm (I live right there and considered hitting the deck they sounded so close). Sounded to me like they came more from the alley (Lily) between Buchannan and Laguna but yeah, can confirm. MIGHT have been a backfire from a car but I'm skeptical.

Correction to the above...it was only at eight, nothing at five. I got confused. Lefty - definitely not backfires, and it was at Rose and Buchanan. The Lower Haight listserv on Google is a good place to go for crime updates in LH/Western Addition. And it's sad that I'm saying that.

I heard the 2 am sounds but didn't hear sirens. Too busy cleaning up the resulting dog accident.

Oh my god! Sfgate is reporting on actual local news! They have a link up to a little information about the bicyclist that was killed. This is terrifying to me. I ride this route everyday.

Why should we care about cyclists? Only innocent people in danger is the real bad thing. Bangers killing each other is their life after all - and anarchist cylers looking for trouble who cares?

Its now all the normal people are in the danger and time to hire 8 million more cops or bring in the army. Noone cares about this-not Newsom or the Supervisors or the SFPD. We're left to ourselves to get armed and shoot back. Though I am sure most Sfisters think cracking down on gangbanging is racist.

How long before blogs rediscover the killfile?

Reports from Divisadero Area

- Divisadero/Hayes July 24th shooting

reported to the police and they are looking into it but no reports of anyone getting shot

- Eddy and Dvisidero July 19th, 11pm-ish

shooting at Pearl Market, kid they were targeting had been shot at twice before

- And more incidents earlier this summer.....
