Everybody Hates Chris: Reassigned!

Chris Daly was finally reassigned to a new committee today, in a total step down. After getting removed from the "powerful" budget committee chairmanship Chris was totally lonesome, floating in a committeeless void. But yesterday that changed as he was introduced as a member of the Government Audit and Oversight Committee. Note that Daly is not mentioned on the agenda of the meeting, but if you go to sfgtv and watch Monday's session you can clearly see him sitting there with Michela Alioto-Pier and Sean Elsbernd.

So, you want to know why this is funny? There are soooooo many reasons:

-- Alioto-Pier and Sean Elsbernd? His new committee-compadres? Both originally appointed by Gavin. So you know the working relationships there must be.. ummm... working?

-- The new committee Daly is on? Not nearly as important as the budget committee chair. Monday's government Audit and Oversight Meeting lasted 14 minutes and had one agenda item. ONE AGENDA ITEM!!

-- The highlight of his new committee? Sylvia Johson sighting! (Go to about the 7:20 mark and make sure to check out the expression on the lady sitting behind the speaker. Priceless.)

I see Sylvia was more coherent than usual that day.

CLASSIC Sylvia Johnson. The scary thought is, what if she's the coherent one?

Although I didn't see the subtitles this time, whoever does them can usually capture about 1/2 of what she is saying. They need an immediate raise and official recognition from the Board.

we're going to meet over here in district 6 sometime in the next week to discuss the logistical side of a recall. please email recalldaly@gmail.com if you are interesting in helping.

Totally agree with mariconsoy. The subtitler at SFGTV is the hardest-working person in government show business.

And suckafree, will your full-time nanny be there at the recall Daly meeting to provide child care, or should we provide our own?

What would it take to get a recall on the ballot? What are the signature requirements and deadlines for this election year? What if the goal is to get the recall on 2008's ballot - when can signature collection begin at that point?

Chris's blog makes it obvious that his attention is not on the public good for his consitutents but rather on his obsession, Mayor Gavin Christopher Newsom (I throw in Christopher as Chris seems to like to say the middle name lots). Should we be sending Daly some purple rubber gloves to go with his obsession? :)

I don't like Chris Daly, but he was elected fair and square. Recalls because you don't like somebody are a thorn in the side of democracy. Suck it up, get a good candidate, raise some money and be ready next time. But to recall a democratically elected public servant is just stupid..

I'm sorry, but if someone is ineffective representing District 6 and doesn't do the job he was elected to do - why shouldn't we recall Daly?

THis isn't a sour grapes thing. As District 6 voters, we are the "boss" of our Supervisor. I'm looking at his job performance, and I want to fire him because he's doing a terrible job representing us with his immature behavior and f-bombs.

Stupid? No, the assumption we should just have to put up with a limp whatever of a Supervisor or a Mayor is what is stupid. You can allow time to go by without doing anything all you want, but the rest of us would like effective representation and not the equivalent of Rush Limbaugh speaking for us at City Hall. Tell the Code Pink people they're stupid for wanting George W. Bush impeached. Suck it up? yeah, right.

Bravo to Peskin

"Fundamentally the budget process is about public policy and not about personality and it is important that we stay committed to having an outcome that ensures we have a budget that reflects the values of the people of San Francisco," Peskin said.

He gets it that most of us simply want compromise and a functioning city

@8, no one reads the fcj, unless you want to read about a tlntlss nttrctv whr nd steve jones wannabe (which is just sad in itself). if you need the attention so bad, just run for offer fer chrissakes. shit don't matter till it's here.

we need 130% of the 10% of registered voters in district 6, 36k to avoid a challenge by daly to the signatures. that's about 4800.

sfmike, if you are serious, i will get you childcare.

hard to tell with your heavy tone of sarcasm.

;)

#10 - You need to see a mental health professional.

SFist, shame on you for allowing such ugly posts.

Hmm, I tried posting about this earlier, but seems like it didn't take. I said something like it wouldn't be an official SFist Chris Daly post without an ugly and hateful comment. But now that I think about it, I'm kind of disturbed by the angry, anonymous, misogynist comments that pop up every time Elaine is mentioned on SFist. What has she done that has created so much hate? Are her "blind items" starting to hit too close to home for some people?

Other Jer and #12 -- Agree.

#10, that's just classless.

Slight disemvowelment to eliminate unnecessary misogyny.

Case in point for the registration system -- if all or most of you good commenters would register, you could utilize the "hide guest comments" function and, ideally, only read the good stuff that furthers the discussion, not the cheap shots.
