So what was the motion that Daly made and didn't get a second for?
he didn't get their support "to make budget amendments," it seems.
CuipSF is a joke on so many levels. First, they're a classic example of Astroturfing (i.e. formal public relations campaigns in politics and advertising that seek to create the impression of being spontaneous, grassroots behavior). They're a lobbying group funded by downtown businesses like PG&E and Bank of America run by Nathan Nayman, one of the creepiest people in San Francisco.
And second, their videos never provide any context. They'll cherry pick a 30 second clip out of a 10 minute speech, and they won't even provide a link to the full video or any kind of text explanation.
Daly's motion was about adjusting the budget. He wrote it about on his blog today:
P.S. Hey Brock, looks like your HTML is a little screwy on the Sketchblog link. Holy cow, that's a frightening picture!
Thanks, Jeremy_notSFist! It's fixed.
Okay, enough of the Republican tactics of trying to deflect attention from the real problem (Chris Daly's inability to represent District 6's constituents). Hasn't this guy learned to stop acting like an immature manchild?
District 6 more or less has no voice at City Hall right now - at least not one that is given any serious consideration. District 6 should fire this guy and put someone in there who isn't so damn obsessed with Gavin Newsom. District 6 needs representation right now, today - not in 3.5 years when this dude is termed out.
That pigeon deserved it! Disgrossting flying rat. (Not that seagulls are much better.) Nasty.
Let's see . . . Chris Daly just tried to fund affordable housing, a 24-hour homeless center, psychiatric beds, and public health nurses . . . sounds like he's trying to represent District 6 to me. Those services would help some of the most vulnerable residents of D6, and also improve the quality of life for the rest of us. If you close the City's only 24 hour homeless center and eliminate psychiatric care, where do you think those displaced homeless and mentally ill people are going to end up? The streets of District 6 maybe?
If you want less peeing and pooing on the streets (which seems to be what most of the DalyHate boils down to), you either need to fund things like homeless and psychiatric services, or you need to fund a Treasure Island prison camp, or whatever it is suckafree keeps advocating.
I just called his office - they said he was only going to the restroom - CUSIP needs to back off.
How great would it be to have video of a pigeon-seagull battle with some Marlin Perkins-style Wild Kingdom narration?
thanks guest #8.
Um, kids, let's review: We had an election last year and guess what? Chris won that election. Now I know it upsets a lot of folks and hey I can understand and feel the pain, but ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES. If you sit on your butt and blog all day and don't do something, then guess what? The guy with the superior organization and superior campaign WINS.
Deal, and move on. if all anti Daly whiners had simply worked harder and smarter, there'd be a different result. It's called elections and democracy, dudes.
that proud seagull just reminded me of my reality show i never got around to pitching, the urban outdoorsman. we'd get coleman and north face to sponsor it. 10 homeless guys vs 10 mba's right out of school. you couldn't sell yourself for money. you'd be taught how to hunt and cook pigeons. the last one standing would win 1 million dollars.
treasure island for all the homeless sounds like a great idea. as long as i never have to see them again.
honestly, i do think we need a 10 year plan to reduce the 160 million per year we spend on the homeless to zero. watch them go to other more sympathetic towns, in droves, just like that south park episode.
here's a novel concept, we could put that 160 million into our decrepit public school system.
So Daly gets up and threatens that if he doesn't get support he'll "go do something else that is more productive than engaging with you 10 colleagues," doesn't get the board's support, then walks out of the meeting literally one second after he lost the vote...and his line is that he was just leaving to go use the restroom?
Yeah right, and Ed Jew lives in San Francisco...what an absolute child.
I got a clip of a seagull eating a pigeon, if you can get the Perkins audio
here's the video clip, seagull vs pigeon

greg,
not true. daly stole that election from us hard working tax payers just like bush stole it from gore. speaking of which, has anyone ever noticed lil' bush on comedy central seems an awful lot like daly?
anyway, daly's people woke the sro's from drunken stupors to vote for him. i guess rob should have thought of that too in order to win.
it should have been run off and rob would have won.
George W. Bush got elected fair and square in 2004, so Code Pink and you peacenik mother fuckers should just suck it up and live with it instead of wasting everybody's time talking about impeachment.
What if you went to the polls without ever observing the Board of Supervisors, and Chris Daly represented himself as someone who was there to work for his consituents and so you vote for him. Then, a few months later, he seems to make every Board meeting and every blog post on www.TheDalyBlog.org about his main obsession ... Mayor Gavin Newsom. You email Supervisor Daly, and you never get a response - even though he is SUPPOSEDLY working for YOUR NEEDS (not his own). He allegedly is an experienced politician, but I find him to be more similar to Krusty the Clown.
He should be ashamed.
Funny, I thought the reason "the main obsession" was Gavin Newsom because that's the city executive, and a complete fuckup. Tell me, why aren't more supervisors obsessed to the point of distraction with that showboater? Why is it any time it's forcefully pointed out to people that there are larger problems we all shriek and demand recalls? Or am I addressing the typical twenty/thirty something crowd that can't handle criticism or negative feelings because it might hurt their self uhsteem?
Also, I suggest some of you review comment #7. If that's what you were standing up for in a meeting, wouldn't you be kinda pissed if your fellow elected officials chose that moment to make a point about your personality?
SOME of Post #7's social programs have their time and place, but not right now when crime is rising in the City. There are plenty of non-profits in this City, and I'm sure they can help the folks who want to be helped with the exception of the mental health beds.
Affordable housing, when it means below rate rental housing, is just continuing the cycle of poverty and you'd be mistaken to think that is a good thing.
ROTFLMAO Guest 17
that was too good
