the "Recall Jake McGoldrick" signs have come down pretty quickly on Geary St.
Creepy little David Heller must be dismayed.
I laugh my ass off.

Better late than never... but why, oh why was Newsom ever against foot patrols? What made him see the light? The upcoming elections? If so, how cynical of him.

The murder rate shot up under his watch and he did nothing about it until it was politically expedient to do so.

Chris Daly was smart to not show up at the West SoMa community meeting tonight. People there seemed sick and tired of homeless shelters, crack heads, slow police response, and homeless folks shitting and pissing in their door steps. There was anger in the room about it... big time.

If you had of went to the last FQT you would of learned that this is a part of a replacement project.
You have to admit that this style of trash depot is not antiseptically astute with the decor of the new San Francisco.

"So until the voters pass a Charter Amendment, San Francisco is stuck with a system where a fringe minority can collect signatures from 10% of registered voters in a district and force a costly recall election upon the taxpayers."

Hey Paul,

If you got your head out of your ass for a second, you might realize that Daly was elected by a fringe minority.

Dumb Ass!!!!!

Beyond Chron, paid for by your tax dollars as part of Tenderloin Housing Clinic. I demand that every reference to BC include this disclaimer.

I take it by "fringe minority" you mean a majority of the voters from district 6 in the previous election?
Shouldn't that be "fringe majority" then?

BTW, does anybody note the irony of Newsom adopting his new position on foot patrols, a position Daly has long advocated, to much scorn from the Police Officer's Association?

Remember Chris chaired the budget committee which gave the police a 24% budget increase over three years. But the POA couldn't stand him because he advocated an increase in foot patrols.

The people out there who have issues with crime in the Tenderloin and want to lay blame at Daly's feet would do wise to familiarize themselves with just how much grief he got trying to increase foot patrols in the city, and they might want to consider Newsom's previous position on the issue: he sided with the POA and opposed an increase in foot patrols.

I don't care what the past cause of the problem is. We need to give our police the full support of citizens to go after the crack heads, looters, vandalists, and so on without worrying about being accused of profiling, racism, etc.
