When The Lights Go Down In The City

Ratatat
It's been a few months since we raved about Ratatat and gave away their CD, so we figure it's time again to extol their greatness. Like we said last time, RATATAT's music is so melodic, varied and compelling that it makes vocals and lyrics seem superfluous. The Brooklyn duo expertly mixes snakey synth lines with sneering guitar, cello, sleigh bells and samples like the appropriately primal roar in "Wildcat". File under: Things That Make You Go "ROWR!"

This time we're giving away two tickets to their show at Mezzanine on Tuesday with Saddle Creek's The Faint. Enter to win below. (Contest ends Friday at 2pm. Winner will be notified via email.)

If you want to see some local music:
Tonight Music For Animals and Finest Dearest are at the Rickshaw Stop, or head out and support SFist's favorite DJ Ted of BAGeL Radio's latest monthly showcase Rockscene at Club Six with Matt Lutz of The Herms, [the] caseworker and Peloton.

On Saturday Tussle celebrate a CD release for Telescope Mind at Cafe Du Nord. If you're up for crossing the bridge and going insane, check out Primus with Gogol Bordello at the Berkeley Community Theatre. On Sunday, do some good and see some fantastic local music at a benefit to build renewable energy awareness in SF with Kelley Stoltz and The Court and Spark at the Make-Out Room. On Monday at Cafe Du Nord five local bands will be duking it out for a chance to play at this year's No So Silent Night presented by Live 105.
