SFist Watches: Movies This Weekend

If the last few weekends have been movie famine, this weekend is movie feast. So many richly diverse options this weekend that you have no real reason to go out in the horrible sunlight until Monday morning.
We're so happy that Crónicas is finally opening in the Bay Area, at the Lumiere. We saw this Ecuadorian thriller when it premiered at the San Francisco International Film Festival, and were bowled over by its dark beauty. John Leguizamo, in his first predominantly Spanish language film, gives the best performance of his career as a conflicted Miami-based TV reporter in Ecuador following the story of a serial murderer and rapist of children. If you only have time to see one film this week, this is the one you should see.
We're also happy to see a few other SFist faves opening this weekend, including Murderball and Last Days at the Embarcadero . If you didn't win any passes from us, you can always sack up and pay actual money to see these two acclaimed films. Oh, and speaking of pass winning, The Beat My Heart Skipped is still in town (but has moved from the Embarcadero to Opera Plaza). We love it, our favorite (non-tech) PR guy loves it, so you should, too.
Since we've seen all these movies already, we'll be out at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival for a lot of the weekend. We've already gone on and on about how great the lineup looks, so why don't you go see for yourself?
And for those of you with, shall we say, more limited attention spans, the San Francisco Three Minute Film Festival is running Saturday night. We'll be there, too -- good lord, it's like we're everywhere!
What about you? Is your destination Fug Island? Let us know in the comments!
