SFist Watches: Movies This Weekend

Y'all know that the first thing on your movie plate this weekend should be the San Francisco International Film Festival -- that's pretty much all we got going on. So many great movies this weekend and beyond, do youself a favor and break out of your usual routine and hit some of these fantastic shows and events.
OK, you're just not in an International Film Festival mood, we can accept that. So, what to see instead?
Still Festive, but not International, our beloved Balboa continues their Reel San Francisco Festival of an Francisco-set films with The Conversation, Petulia, and two versions of The Maltese Falcon (Noir City's Eddie Muller introduces Saturday evening shows, and Hammett in SF tour guide Don Herron introduces Sunday shows).

We can hear you saying "SFist, I'm in a revival mood, but I want something a bit more exploitative than what the Balboa's offering this week." SFist Matty-Matt has just the thing for you: "on April 23, the Castro is doing a double-bill (scroll down to the 23rd) of Valley of the Dolls and Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, two films that are extremely important to weirdos everywhere." He said it, folks!
The 4 Star Spring Asian Series is screening yet another winner (or not, Londonist Mike?) with One Missed Call. People, listen to this premise:
People mysteriously start receiving voicemail messages from their future selves, in the form of the sound of them reacting to their own violent deaths, along with the exact date and time of their future death, listed on the message log. The plot thickens as the surviving characters persue the answers to this mystery which could save their lives.
The tagline for this movie is "Death cannot be put on hold." Oh my god we know that this movie is probably really scary (the director, Takashi Mîke, is responsible for some of the most chilling films in recent memory) but this is just cracking us up! Somebody needs to go and tell us how this movie is. Please?
To conclude what has become an Hi-Low survey of Bay Area cinema, we recommend the critically acclaimed film Kung-Fu Hustle, which finally opens in the Bay Area at the 4 Star (among other places) this weekend. Set in 1930s Shanghai, this movie satirizes all those kung-fu gangster movies you and your roommates still owe Le Video late fees for.
How about you? Going Hi? Going Low? What are you going to go see this weekend?
