"Hi, this is Gavin. Leave a message."

Dear Gavin,

We know that you're recently single. And okay, we can accept that the hot, SF-appropriate love affair we were hoping for between you and Matty G just isn't in the cards.

Still...

PARIS HILTON?!?! Why does she have your number, Gavin? Or, should we call you "Newson, San fran gavin"? Are you cheating on us?! With HER? Oh, my god. We are so totally going to have to ho's... um, we mean hose... down City Hall now. With anticeptic and antibiotics and anti... well, whatever we can get our hands on, frankly.

As we sit here making disapproving clucking noises at you Gavin (come on, being in the same, even phone book, ranks as Nick Carter and Vin Diesel (.wav file) is so lame) we are a bit more than fascinated by how such a thing happens. Moment of weakness in the face of the vagina that launched a thousand ships? Overreaching on the part of your personal ass-istants? What?

Sigh. We know the social scene here is a little lacking and with Kimbers gone you must get awful lonely. Which is why we're willing to forgive. For now.

But mark our words, San fran gavin, we're watching and if we see any videos "accidentally" released to the internets we are so going to sic Chris Daly on you. For reals.

Oh, and one more thing... the hair gel? Yeah, that's hot.

Sincerely, your friends at SFist.

Okay, so my phone is broken, and I used my roommate's to call that number to see if it really was the Gavster. It was. And to prove it? The "San Francisco Secret Service" called my roommate back saying "We've tracked your call to the Mayor of San Francisco. We've put your number on file and suggest that you do not call this number again."

So much for just calling your phone provider and changing the number like everyone else on Paris's list did.

hmm, San Francisco has a Secret Service. or is that the US SS, SF division? maybe it's the only number Kimberly has for him, and Gav is still holding out hope.

The Secret Service is the agency that deals with telecommunications fraud, so it makes sense they're involved. I imagine that most of the normal celeb types just changed their numbers but since Gav is a politico they probably are more intererested in his number than the others.

What on earth could they possibly due to me for calling somebody's phone number, unless I'm trying to sell them something or leaving threatening or creepy messages? I actually was going to say "Gavin, this is SFist, and you should probably change your number." Really.

I find it sort of endearing that Paris has opened up her mind and her address book to the political world.

It shows that she's, you know, involved and stuff, and she cares about important things like politics. She's so deep.

For one thing, I guess that explains why Paris was at the ballet or opera or something recently.

For another, I would like to know how Mary-Lynn knows that very specific piece of information about the Secret Service.

I love how Newsom and his spokesman Peter Ragone's official position on this is, "People have had Gavin's phone number since he announced Care Not Cash so it's no big deal." (Also, love the "Newsom is currently boycotting the SF Hilton.")

I don't really think there's anything particularly untoward going on either. I just think it's HEEEE-Larious.

Chesh, I'm not sure how I know the Secret Service thing - I think I probably saw some TV show once on the SS and developed a mini-obsession (as I am wont to do) and ... voila! It was useful for once. I believe they are also responsible for bank and mail fraud (so, possibly interstate commerce in general?).

Oh, also - I'm not sure I buy the Ragone statement that the number is widely available on the internet because, dude, the first thing I did was Google it and it didn't come up anywhere. Reverse phone books only track it back to being owned by Verizon wireless.

Gavin newsom is an idot for letting the 49ers leave the city

I think any one can do whatever she or he wants. I dont know what`s the big problem.
