British Pathé, the newsreel company that documented life on film for much of the last century, uploaded their entire archive to YouTube today. Included in the 3,500 hours of footage was this shaky reel of various b-roll shots taken around San Francisco in the aftermath of the Great Earthquake of 1906, which happened exactly 108 years ago, tomorrow.
Although the 1906 footage doesn't come with that long-lost newsman voice, another documentary shot after the Daly City earthquake in 1957, (a 5.3 on the Richter scale) gets the full newsreel treatment:
