Tomorrow San Francisco will host its second annual Slut Walk and Rally at Dolores Park. Like last year, the event aims to protest those who attempt to explain or excuse rape by blaming the victim or referring to some aspect of a woman's appearance. The event started as a protest against a Toronto Police Officer who suggested that in order for women to remain safe they should "avoid dressing like sluts," but it takes on even greater significance this year as politicians like Rep. Todd Akin have decided to weigh in on what constitutes "legitimate rape."

This year's event will have keynote speeches from Dr. Carol Queen, Tommi Avicolli Mecca, CA State Assemblywoman Sally Lieber and representatives from other supporting organizations. The event runs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. tomorrow on the steps near the bell memorial in Dolores Park at 19th and Dolores. The rally and speeches will happen from 11 a.m. until Noon.
