You want wild cards? We’ve got wild cards. Just about every player in this category is a wild card; by that we mean you would have to be an awfully good seer to predict, with any certainty, their upcoming numbers for the season.

Eric Chavez - 2006 Stats: 137 games, 485 AB, 24 2B, 22 HR, 84 BB, 100 SO, 3 SB, .351 OBP, .435 SLG, .241 AVG

Our perennial Gold Glove third baseman struggled mightily at the plate last season, posting an OBP of barely over .350 to go with the abysmal batting average of .241. These numbers can most likely be attributed to his mysterious forearm injuries, which he has hopefully rehabbed during the off-season. If Chavvy is healthy, look for a solid season with anywhere from 20-30 homeruns. Even if he’s not, look for a seventh consecutive well-deserved Gold Glove award at the hot corner.
