Today was opening day for the Board of Supervisors as it were as today was the first day of work for 2007. First up? The voting in of a new President who happens to be same as the old President-- Aaron Peskin. The vote was unanimous. Said Chris Daly who nominated him: "I think it's important to have someone attuned to the needs not just in his district ... but also in the districts across the city. ... He has led this board as gracefully as it can be done, because it's not an easy task."

Gavin himself showed up and congratulated Peskin on getting re-elected. Everyone noted that with Mrs. Pelosi now the Big Cheese, things could be shaking and baking.

In his remarks after winning the Presidency, Peskin talked about the need to come together to fix things both big and small. He also took a little dig at Fox News and Santa Clara. Fox News we understand, but other than stealing the football team, what has Santa Clara have to do with anything?

Also on the agenda, swearing in the newly elected Board of Supervisors, mainly those who were already members of the Board of Supervisors and newbie Ed Jew.
