at the Curran Theatre
Cirque du Soleil isn't the only artsy circus company around, and unfortunately, for all the other companies like Cirque Eloize, they'll all be compared to those commercialized French-Canadians taking Vegas by storm. Well, forget about Soleil. What we love about companies like Cirque Eloize is their more authentic connection with the audience. They still deliver the stunts and humor, blending them with imaginative movement and theater, but they forgo the, shall we say, "elitist" veneer. Rain draws on creator Daniele Finzi Pasca's childhood memories, all captured by his family of photographers. "In my shows," he says, "I simply make these images move." Look for spectacular visual effects, strong characterizations, and, yes, rain.
Playing September 20 to October 16.
