And when we say "people", dear readers, we don't mean you (especially those of you who have donated to fight animal abuse already, for which we thank you). We mean these bastards who do things like set dogs afire, shoot dogs and leave them to die, and now this sack of s**t who intentionally ran down a bunch of ducks at Campbell's Delta Queen Classic Car Wash, as Rita has noted below.

The killer, a man in his late teens or early 20s, was driving a red, two-door Acura Integra with what looked to be a vanity license plate and a parking sticker in the back window. Listen to this description of the surveilance footage (which was unfortunately too blurry to show the licence plate clearly) that captured the crime:

“He runs over two ducks and then goes out on the street, makes a U-turn, runs over the ducks again, goes down the lane between the back side of the wash and restaurant where a bunch of ducks are sitting and plows right through them.” The man then got out of his car and started flushing out the surviving ducks, many of them ducklings, from the bushes. He grabbed a couple and either threw them at his car or into his car.

A $200 reward is being offered (today's KTVU report also said that some Campbell residents and car wash customers said they would pitch in for free to find the criminals) for information leading to the capture and conviction of this criminal. Anyone with information can call the car wash at (408) 377-2525 or Campbell police at (408) 866-2101.

Who the hell are these people? Why do they think that doing this kind of s**t is OK? From Lucky the rabbit to these recent attacks, over and over again we are aghast at the abuse people heap on animals with little or no retribution -- and again, we'll remind you that people who hurt animals hurt people too. Dear readers, we are heartened by how many of you take these crimes as seriously as we know you do, as it gives us one of the only glimmers of happiness in these dark, dark days.
