It's taken us a week to recover from our holiday party at Otis, which was really slammin' if we do say so ourselves. SFist staff, contributors, readers, sources, subjects, and friends all showed up to drink, talk s**t, and mingle. The shindig even made it into PJ Corkery's column!

Quick! Name an event that can combine politicians, naked folks (ok, just a few), Klingons, hippies, bunnies, art cars, and cheerleaders on a Sunday afternoon. Only the Tenth Annual How Berkeley Can You Be parade and festival in downtown Berkeley yesterday could do all that. Screwy Louie of Berkeley Liberation Radio kicked off the parade at 11:30 AM on one of the most summer-like days of the year.

The above photo, from a series by Your Waitress, is of HiMY SYeD placing candles as part of his art piece and vigil to commemorate the one month point since the horriffic tsunami in the Indian Ocean. SFist also posted the personal story and photographs of Wyatt Gallery, who recently returned from the scene of the disaster in Sri Lanka. SFist Cares explores the rules relating to your 2004 tax return and your charitable giving.

Our man at the SF Weekly, Nate Cavalieri, put together a less somber but no less sincere benefit event at 12 Galaxies in the Mission. The Benefit Show for the International Red Cross Disaster Relief Efforts in South Asia will be on Wednesday at 7:30 and will include performers Mark Eitzel, Jolie Holland, Sonny Smith, Jeffrey Luck Lucas, Loquat, The Herms, Dave Gleason, Mike Therieau and Pat Johnson, The Bellyachers, Tom Heyman and Bart Davenport. It will be ten dollars at the door, although you can give more, and 100% of the door and much of the drink proceeds will go directly to charities helping with the relief effort. There will also be a benefit raffle with prizes, including Amoeba gift certificates and vintage Red Cross gear.

Andrew Krucoff, who used to be Mr. Intervista at Gothamist, apparently has a fetish for Berkeley punk. Hence he's gone and provided the innerweb with free downloads of this sweet compilation tape [Thanks, BoingBoing].
