Daisy Does The Niners: SF Reigns Supreme Over Seattle

Daisy Does The Niners: SF Reigns Supreme Over Seattle

(By Daisy Barringer) I knew the Niners wouldn't ruin Thanksgiving AND Christmas this year. I just knew it. There certainly was a lot at stake when they faced off against the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, however. A chance at the No. 2 seed, beating a division rival, shutting up former 49ers GM Scot "I spell my name with one T' McClouglhan, and last, but the opposite of least: making all of my Christmas Dreams come true. more ›

Daisy Does The Niners: San Francisco Clinches NFC West

Daisy Does The Niners: San Francisco Clinches NFC West

(By Daisy Barringer) Well, we did it. No one thought it would happen like this—that the 49ers would be the first team in the NFL to clinch their division—that we'd do it with a 10-2 record—that we'd do it with Alex Smith at the helm—BUT WE DID IT. And, I, for one, couldn't be happier that I was so very, very wrong. more ›

Niners Win NFC West Title

Niners Win NFC West Title

The San Francisco 49ers won the NFC West tile today, their first title win since 2002. What does this mean? It means San Francisco is heading to the playoffs! They claimed victory in a 26-0 win over the St. Louis Rams Sunday, a game also noteworthy for being the Niners' first shutout since 2009. more ›

Daisy Does the Niners: Candlestick Erupts Over 27-20 Win Against NY

Daisy Does the Niners: Candlestick Erupts Over 27-20 Win Against NY

(By Daisy Barringer) I've been to every single 49ers game since I moved back to San Francisco in 2006 I've also been to quite a few playoff games over the years…when going to the playoffs was something we did. However, never in my entire life have I seen the crowd at Candlestick as on fire as it was yesterday. more ›

Daisy Does the Niners: 6-1 for the First Time Since 1998

(By Daisy Barringer) Is nothing good enough for you people? The 49ers beat the Cleveland Browns 20-10 to go 6-1 for the season... and all I heard around Candlestick and on the radio this morning was talk about an ugly win. How Alex Smith looked terrible. How there's no way in hell the 49ers can beat the Green Bay Packers. more ›

Daisy Does the Niners: SF Muffles Lions' Roar

Daisy Does the Niners: SF Muffles Lions' Roar

(By Daisy Barringer) This morning I walked into my local Peet’s (iced tea, not coffee; life is hard enough without going through it fully awake) and for the first time in my entire life, I overheard the baristas and customers bantering about the San Francisco 49ers. Not to me, mind you. No, no. I’m a girl [twirls hair], so no one randomly strikes up football conversations with me, a dame. However, folks at my local coffee dealer did so with the other customers: you know, the ones with penises? Them. more ›

Daisy Does the Niners: SF Annihilates Tampa Bay, 48-3

(By Daisy Barringer) The San Francisco 49ers—YOUR San Francisco 49ers—are 4-1. Take a moment to enjoy that. To enjoy the fact that the Niners completely dominated Tampa Bay in a 48-3 rout where we showed finesse, heart, efficiency, physicality, and the will to not just win, but completely destroy. Let’s break it down: more ›

Daisy Does The Niners: 49ers Beat the Eagles 24-23

Daisy Does The Niners: 49ers Beat the Eagles 24-23

(By Daisy Barringer) The San Francisco 49ers are 3-1 and just won two back-to-back games on the road for the first time since 2006. With losses by Arizona (1-3), Seattle (1-3), and the Rams (0-4), the 49ers are also two full games ahead in the NFC West. If this had happened last year, you can bet your ass I’d have started this post with: THE NINERS ARE GOING TO WIN THE DIVISION!!! And then I’d have come to your office or home and thrown confetti in your face and forced champagne down your throat. more ›

Daisy Does the Niners: Ugly Road Win Puts SF Ahead In the NFC West

Daisy Does the Niners: Ugly Road Win Puts SF Ahead In the NFC West

(By Daisy Barringer) First of all, can I just say how much I hate 10 a.m. games? Not only does that mean that the 49ers are playing on the road (something at which we’re notoriously horrible), but it also means I have to be up and at ‘em before 10 a.m. ON A SUNDAY. Ugh, my life is hard. more ›

Giants Beat Phillies, 4-3

Giants Beat Phillies, 4-3

Well, that was a pleasant surprise. Or not a surprise at all, depending on where you stand. But, wow, what a Saturday night, yes? The Giants beat the Phillies in a 4-3 victory at the start of the National League Championship Series. Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum stole the show from Roy Halladay. Why? Because he is all kinds of rad with his "violent delivery." And Cody Ross? He belted two solo homeruns against Halladay. He deserves nothing less than your undying loyalty. more ›

Afternoon Palate Cleanser: Will Clark's 1987 On-Air Elation

After last night's NL West win ended the city's collective torture, Tim Licecum uttered "Fuck yeah" during a live post-game interview. Which: swoon. Also, we think this should be the team's new slogan. more ›

Giants Spank D-Backs, Remain In Lead

After last night's 3-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, the first-place Giants maintain a two game lead over San Diego in the NL West. Giants Win One Over Milwaukee

Giants Win One Over Milwaukee

Proving clouds contain these alleged silver linings, the San Francisco Giants manged to avoid a three-game sweep over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday. Whew. Right-hander Ryan Sadowski, 26, also pitched his first major league game. "He looked very comfortable out there," Giants manager Bruce Bochy told CBS 5 / AP. "He threw quality strikes. He had good movement on his fastball. He had breaking balls going. He did a great job, swung the bat. He did it all today." Sadowski also took home several balls as a keepsake. Aw. Next up, the Giants will play the St. Louis Cardinals at 5:15 p.m. (PST). more ›

Randy Johnson 300th Win Photo Tribute

Although an away-game and rain resulted in a low turnout for Randy Johnson's 300th win yesterday, the small crowd couldn't diminish the joy and relief the SF Giants pitcher felt after winning his 300th game. This makes Johnson the 24th pitcher (and the sixth left-hander) to achieve the 300 mark with a 5-1 win against the easy-to-clobber Nationals in D.C. last night. more ›
